I just finished reading "Clothes Music Boys", it's so readable and enjoyable and utterly honest that I finished the book in no time at all, the quickest I have read a whole book in years. Viv's stories resonate with me because I used to know a lot of the people about whom she writes, around 78-79-80 time. Viv tells us about her on-again-off-again relationship with Mick Jones.... well, I was there at Lumley Castle, 2 December 1978, not a night that is easily forgotten......

Same I’ve just passed it on to my fifteen year old daughter. She’s loving it and learning so much about that 70/80s music scene.

@@carrieoff 70s and 80s are different scenes, not one big scene (punk is not new romantic etc.).

I practically devoured these two books. What an incredible person! Thank you Viv, for your candor and insights, and for so much more....makes me wish I'd taken more risks in my own life.

Cool, Viv! Still a true punk! I'm glad I discovered you and the Slits, too late in a way, but never late than never. Stumbled across your first book in summer and bought it, and am now devouring the Slits videos and music. Will get your latest book, too, and looking forward to it! Love the whole style. Honesty is the only thing but it indeed does set you apart, and you know what, honest people are way more interesting and fascinating than all the others. You are right, your books help others. They resonate with me, definitely! Good thing about the false logic creeping up in your mind in a decisive moment!

Yeah, i liked her first book too... To be honest, i never really liked or enjoyed the Slits' music BUT what i respect/aknowledge is the strength of their image, their sheer nature: very young , amateurish women with that wild convulsive(?) look, making that no compromise cacophony music : THAT was new and original and important. I feel the same about the very early Damned singles actually : what was striking, beside the music, was the aesthetics, the minimalism...

Where have you been all my life ? Now I'm feeling even more lonely than before (as in stuck in a boring rural place, no free spirit to talk to), after reading 'clothes clothes clothes...' Viv would you consider at the very least a holiday house (I know. Bourgeois and materialistic) in south west France ? You are urgently needed here.

Her biography was the best ever written and we have read a few. Just reading the new book but the jury is out on that at the moment for various reasons. The other great biography out at the moment is 'The Definitive Eleanor Rigby Story' It's another pop icon written in a warts and all way. But its very limited edition and not at Amazon on at this link for more info www.futurelegendrecords.com/#/erbook/4594459124
