Today we travel back to a time where gardening and pinata collecting was the highlight of my days. I am of course talking about Viva Pinata, I used to play this game a lot as a kid but haven't touched it for many years now. Will it still be a beloved memory or will it be shattered into pieces? Well let's find out by grinding all 50 achievements!

Oh man, I wasn't expecting this. I loved this game as a kid. Spent so many hours with it trying to see how to make the various pinatas and turn the sours. A lot of fun messing around back then because it wasn't as easy to look stuff up.

To be fair it is one of the first 360 games so having a 50 hour achievement is reasonable since back then there wasnt much else to play on it. That and the game is just fun to play

You don't have to romance the same two piñatas for master romancer, just pick two new piñatas from new eggs of the species you want each time and romance level one until you've hatched 7eggs and the achievement will pop. See your mum can still show you a thing or two 😉 Loved playing this could easily give it more than 50 hours of my time xx

You don't even need to do that. You just need to have 7 pinatas of the same species in your garden at once. You could buy 7 of each of the paper's pets pinatas and have the hunter help speed up the process for the others

I am extremely surprised that there isn't an achievement for getting the Dragonache. For those who don't know, it is a dragon pinata that is the rarest pinata in the game. Its egg can be found in the mines, which is what the Diggerlings are for, and it is EXTREMELY RARE to get. You can boost the chance of getting it via multiple factors, but it's still a chore to get.

Another tip to get a good amount of money is to breed Tafflies. Tafflies are pretty low-level pinatas that have the easiest/cheapest evolution methods in the game. Simply buy a light that has fire (if I remember correctly, it's just 100 coins), and then just keep getting Tafflies. Keep evolving them, then sell their evolved form to make bank.

I have so many good childhood memories with Viva Pinata! I don't think I'd want a modern sequel or anything, but the concept of a farming/animal husbandry sim with a food chain is super awesome and should be done again.

I feel your pain on the 50 hour achievement. Panzer Dragoon Remake has an achievement for playing for 100 hours. The campaign takes like an hour to finish, and iirc you only need 3-4 playthroughs tops to get all the other achievements.

I agree with the 50 hour achievement being ridiculous, this game is my absolute favourite and I managed to beat the game fully by reaching max level and earning every badge. I still haven't unlocked the master longevity achievement :(

So, fun fact about Viva Pinata and it's Tv Series: The show aired one month before this game released, used to advertise the game. The show ran for two seasons, each episode having two segments attached to them. Anywho, PLEASE play the sequel!! I need more Viva Pinata content!! I forget if the first game had the opening that was in the show or not, but if so:That opening is narrated by the character you send your Pinatas to, Langston Lickatoad. (He doesn't technically appear in this game, but he does appear in the sequel, and has an important role in the TV series). Langston's voice actor is, funny enough, Mike Pollock, the same voice actor who voices Dr. Eggman.

Man, I distinctly remember playing this game for hundreds of hours as a kid, though. I'm not sure how I made it so far into the game, I had no idea about this hybrid/evolving system, at best I probably got the Red Hot by accident, wild to think I managed to get a Dragonache but had no clue how to get a Horstachio, though. memory is really spotty, I love this game through and through. Viva pinata was one of the first games I played on 360 actually before I owned a 360 when I couch gamed on my neighbors console. When I finally got a 360 I eventually got this game but every time I play it and my friends see me playing it, they call me "gay." Every time I want to play this game I have to put myself to offline so that I wont get teased by my friends... its really unfortunate. I am glad to see a youtuber playing this gem of a game all the same.

Looks like a fun cute game, but yeah that 50 hour playtime achievement? oof. To be fair Neir Automata would take a long time, but at least you won't be sitting idle for days, might be some chonky grinds for a couple of things though. (But hey, at least there's awesome music while you're playing!)

tell you now bro, i am happy this game is finally getting the attention and traction it rightly deserves. it was barely known and played in its glory years. still stands the test of time and is the best appealing game to ever exist alongside banjo kazooie nuts and bolts. if they made a 3rd game these days (not including the spinoffs of the actual game) i think itd gain alot of traction now.

This brings back so many good memories! I played the DS version of Viva Piñata and it was so much fun. I completed it 100% and it took sooo long to find someone that had that stupid Yeti, so i could just clone it with my safe files (dont ask me how i did it, its been such a long time, maybe 10 years or so lol) Turned out a classmate had the Yeti and we helped each other out👌🏻

I cannot remember a single game that consumed time like viva piñata lmao. I remember being a kid on a Saturday morning turing on my DS then next thing i knew my mom was calling me for dinner. It was in the genre i like to call time travel games, alongside the sims and minecraft. Though it was my first experience with such a game.

This was the first significant game I ever got all the achievements for. I had gotten 100% achievement in Cloning Clyde, but I considered that a trivial thing. Viva Pinata, though, was a true investment of energy, time, and enjoyment. Despite that, I didn't actually finish the achievements 100% until 9 years later when I got the game as part of Rare Replay. I think there were just two achievements left, I'm not sure. Either way, I was so incredibly excited. Had an Xbox 360 since it came out in 2005, and my first 100% was in 2015. I think I have 100% on Spyro Re-Ignited now, but I don't think anything else has hit that for me. But this was one of my favorite games of that generation. I loved it. I found Trouble in Paradise to be a bug-filled letdown, but it was still fun. And count me among the few that actually enjoyed the TV show as well as the party game (Party Animals).
