Ray could never make it w/o his brother Dave by his side, together they're golden.
@robbieclark78288 жыл бұрын
The tension between Ray and Dave is exactly what gives the Kinks their energy. They look like they've never had more fun harmonizing "Hatred! Hatred! Is the only thing that keeps us together! Hatred! Hatred! Is the only thing that lasts forever!". This song is the perfect summation of the Kinks' career and the relationship of the Davies brothers.

But it is pretty F**ked up that hate keeps then together but now it doesn't! That's one of the reasons they broke up!

Gabriel Thissen Of all the bands I was never able to see, the Kinks are the one I regret the most. Maybe I'll see Ray or Dave, or maybe if they bring their musical to Broadway, but I don't think it could ever match up. These days, Dave is still going strong, but I doubt he is at all what he used to be, sad to say, after his stroke. Brave man for getting back on the road and in the studio nonetheless. Ray needs a whole choir backing him to replace his brother whenever he plays now.

@ijeff20056 жыл бұрын
I think you are probably right about that. Early on Dave was always very supportive of Ray's writing, but I think he did come to resent the lack of respect shown to him by big brothers. In other words, its not as simple as jealousy. Ray supplied a lot of reasons for Dave to be resentful, but then again, Dave wasn't exactly a choir boy either.

Why couldn't they get along like John and Paul used to in the Beatles?

John and Paul weren't brothers so there wasn't sibling rivalry. That can run extremely deep, rather than a typical resentment or rivalry. Plus if they did get along we wouldn't have had performances like this.
