Why do people have to ask how many hours someone practices daily? We are all at different levels and we all have different personalities. What if she's been playing here whole life and she only practices an hour a day? What if she was raised in a musical family with a great instructor? What if you were not musically inclined and you've only been playing a few years and you practice 24 hours a day? How much more of an irrelevant question is there? Just practice as much as you can. Don't play like a blind fool. Get some constructive criticism from a "real" violinist. Gauge your progress and keep practicing. All these "hopefuls" who don't have an ounce of self-confidence. The violin is unforgiving in every possible way. If your musical prowess is lacking so much, just learn to play the piano or a guitar. Something that just allows you to push down in a designated area. Here is a relevant question: If 1000 people were to pick up a violin, how many of them do you think would ever become professional soloists in an orchestra setting? There are far too many variables to even think about the proper answer, but I suppose you could "Google" it and take your chances. Don't worry about how much somebody else commits themselves. Commit yourself to the best of your abilities. Sooner or later you will have your answer.
