Really fantastic ride but I wouldn't say that Chris ever looked "beautiful" on the pedals. Compare him to someone like Dylan van Baarle, for example.

@@jasoncdebussy Froome needed immediate attention from the ambulance (which by chance was right there) for two hours before they could even begin transporting him to the hospital. Lost 4 pints of blood. Intensive care for weeks. He was just fine eh?

Chris, great message at the end. I’m a mid-30s guy who has struggled since 2019 with a health issue that’s slowly getting better. The body does heal and adjust. Your recovery has been an inspiration for me. So keep going. Never give up. You will get there! You were amazing yesterday, and the best is still to come!

That still stands out to me in my memory and, among other dominant performances you put in over the years, continues to bring inspiration. Good old Froomey. Good on you mate! I've been cycling for over 40 years. I was in Ashford Wheelers way back in the day (early 80s) and now at the age of 61, it is more important than ever. I was diagnosed with a form of leukemia late last year and cycling has been my saviour during my recovery, both physically and mentally. Watching you on Alpe d’Huez was inspiring. All the best!

Such an inspiration to a disabled athlete that started cycling just 11 months ago. I was almost in tears today talking to my coach about how unhappy I am with my progress, I wish my body didn’t have these limitations or so many obstacles. This gives me the motivation to keep pushing and fighting ☺️♥️

Wah...I was screaming on my screen. "COME ON FROOMEY... YOU CAN DO IT!!!! COME ON…!!!! So, yeah, congratulations to finish 3rd on the hardest stage. I know it's probably nothing compared to your Palmares, but at least you can stick it to all the haters out there. I've been following your journey over the last 3 years, and I thought finally you can see the end of the tunnel. It's still a lot of work, but being able to be up there again, must have been a small victory on your journey. Through your journey, I witness your sheer determination which is so inspiring for everyone. I really hope you can win the stage. Even if you don't manage to win any stage this year TDF, just to watch you finally in the front of the race whether it's breakaway or in the peloton… finishing in a decent time, it's great to see... Best of luck.

Massive inspirational ride on the Alpe Chris. I was so rooting for you to be able to follow Tom, but he was just so strong that day. Even so, that was a massive ride, and it was great to see you back at the front again after all your struggles. Especially on the Alpe, as that has a special place in my heart. I've always struggled with massive obesity, and a few years ago decided to do something about it. I lost 75kg of weight and got back to cycling again. I rode Alpe d'Huez for fun in '94 in just over 2hrs. Last year (27 years later) I did the same after losing all the weight, and did it in 73 minutes. Next goal is La Marmotte.

I was genuinely happy when I turned on my TV and saw Chris in the breakaway. It's always been an inspiration and just heartwarming to watch your channel on your way back, with all those ups and downs - and now, finally, the Alpe happened. Pidcock was just from another planet on this day but coming in third on that stage was a massive achievement. Well done, sir!

I guess it's a sign of the true competitive spirit that you are more focussed on the 2 that finished in front of you than the 156 that finished behind (including some promising youngsters such as Pogacar and Vingegaard 🙂). If you got goosebumps at the Grand Depart, we got goosebumps all the way to the finish of stage 12. It is so good to see you back, all that hard, hard work has paid off. I was told last June 17 2021 that I only had a year left to live and today is been 13 months since then and I’m still here through it all. I have beat Rectal Cancer and hopefully I will get back on my bike soon..Is been 2 years now since I rode my bike But I will never give up I will be back. My first approach to cycling was the video game “tour de france 2015” , at first I didn’t know anything and I didn’t really watch any race, I knew that you were good just because you’d always win the tdf in my career. I really got into cycling last year and unfortunately i never saw your great achievements live, this stage was my first time seeing you fighting for the win and it gave me goosebumps, thank you Chris for not giving up and letting even new fans see who you really are(sorry for the bad English)
