By the way, if you own the Cosmos with inside out tracking make sure to use the beta release. The drivers greatly improves the tracking. Also Gear lens mod will be night and day difference in viewing quality.

Me and my family rocked the OG Vive for about 4 years. But when my gaming PC took a dump, we weren’t able to enjoy the Vive anymore. We’ve been without the PC for about a year, and wanted to get back into VR. We just got ourselves the Quest 2, and it’s pretty dang good. No PC, no cables, no display ports, no base stations, etc. just grab the gear and play. I do want to build me a good Pc and when I do, I’d love to get the Vive pro 2. The Quest 2 is great and all, but it does struggle in the more taxing games. But all around happy with it

in a nutshell on which should you buy. If you have a lot of money then Vive Pro 2, if the budget doesnt allow something as expensive as Vive Pro 2 or Valve Index then Cosmos Elite is probably the best choice right next to the quest 2

Seeing as it's about $1300 for an Index here. The closest and best option is the Cosmos Elite at about $250 less.

Looks like the Cosmos Elite is my best option then. Rift is completely off the table due to farkbook login being required. And it's too hard to find an Index at a reasonable price. I've also only got an RTX 2060.

I use my htc vive cosmos with driver4vr I use the cameras on the headset and I have set qr code cubes on my feets and I have full body and it’s working perfectly 👌

disagree with the statement about the headband fitting being superior on the pro 2. The crown fitting (borrowed from PSVR) on the Cosmos Elite is a much better solution, more stable & doesn't get the sponge rims all sweaty.

cosmos elite gets sweaty lol from beat saber im always airing my headset with a little fan but im wondering is vive pro 2 better tracking for like fast ranked songs cause cosmos elite losse track for me at times like i think its the controllers are bad like just buyed two new controller the 1.0 and 500$ down the drain the controllers are being dicks again at time like fly away or light saber stays on the floor i also uses bgrip is that over a senser on the controller maybe and another think im thinking sweat is going to to the controller cause i get reallt sweaty with beat saber on rank songs

Is the Pro 2 better than the Valve Index? I still like the idea of finger tracking, and I didn't hear anything about that for either the Pro 2 or the Cosmos Elite.

@@owaing I'm aware, but I'll stick with just getting the Index. The only upside to the Pro 2 is the higher resolution and the OLED screens. Literally everything else falls short of the Index, from field of view, to sound spacing and sound quality.

Question, can this be used as a standalone device (without base stations and controllers)? It can be purchased by itself and I may do so (for flight sims) where a mouse is more effective for clicking buttons etc. Does it work to track head movements just by itself. Like, if I were to "centre" the gyro, that'd be looking front and centre and then any movement will be mimicked in the software. Namele DCS. Can someone check it out for me, thanks!!

Brand Loyalty is never a good thing. Wait for Valve and give them an objective review first, before jumping into blind acceptance, because they can just as easily fuck it all up in the end like Oculus or Vive. I have high expectations of Valve, but I would never say they're going to rock without seeing the product first.

Buy a Cosmos new for cheap and get the Elite Faceplate separately. I got my headset from Amazon refurbished half the price but no games. The hardware's in mint condition

I'm considering the Cosmos Elite. For one. It has inside out tracking built in. Secondly. It's far easier and cheaper for me to get one over an Index. And thirdly, I can't install the base stations as it's not my house.
