I bought this pen from a 3rd party seller since my older Ryzen 3 laptop did not include the pen. For note taking and drawing in Paint, it worked straight out the box, no software or drivers needed and pressure and buttons worked fine. That was to be expected, though. Even for 3D sculpting in Blender it worked! Pressure of the pen affects the strength of the sculpting brush, top button works as right click so you can easily rotate the object in 3D space with the pen. Bottom button actually inverts the brush. I didn't try texture painting but I imagine that also works. That was a nice surprise. For GIMP, however, it just refused to work. Drawing does absolutely nothing and actually breaks GIMP, but only in Windows. In Linux it will draw but the pressure does not work. Oh yeah, it works in Linux, straight out of the box. I was worried it was not going to work since the pen didn't actually come with the laptop but it was a worthwhile investment.

The pen that comes with this laptop in India is neither the Active pen 1 or 2. It has a longer tip than Pen 1 and It works great, but it doesn't have a clip to keep in ypur pocket. Also, i didn't receive extra Tips/nibs with it.

@@rakshithsajjan3639 This is my first device with pen. So I am no expert. But If the pen is touching the display, you can definitely rest your palm on the screen. But there are occasionally some accidental touches from the palm. But its very rare. It definitely won't be as good as something like iPad If the pen is not on the screen, it will register a touch from some point on the palm

what do you plan to do with this laptop? If you need a performance beast with 8-cores, then 4700u is a good choice but it will generate more heat than 4500u. For most folks 4500u is fine

Im pretty sure the envy doesn’t have any pressure sensitivity only tilt out of the HP line only the spectre line has pressure at least thats how it looks from looking into it but definitely check and make sure

There is an issue with the Flex 5 when playing videos on browsers ( on all chrome based browsers Chrome, Brave & Edge, I haven't tested Firefox). There is frame drops and stuttering every few minutes in many videos which becomes annoying after some time. Is there any fix for this?. I tried some solutions mentioned on the net and they haven't had much of an effect.

​@@legitdoc9587 The Lenovo was really good for note taking and felt similar to the iPad in my opinion. I needed some time to get used to the thicker device (compared to the iPad) but that was the only thing that was really different. If you think of getting it, try to get a model with an IPS-Panel type of screen. I mistakenly got a horrible TN-Panel instead that was unusable when lying on the desk/viewing from an angle and returned it.
