Do u know how to do a factory reset on the trips

With mine, the trip odometer resets every time I turn the bike off. When I turn the bike back on, it resets to "0".

after charging, I cannot get the battery to slide into the housing. The silver knob on the housing won't move and impedes the battery from sliding on.

That is a security lock for the battery. There is a key hole on the other side of that silver knob. Use the key to unlock it and the silver knob will retract so that you can insert the battery. Then turn the key the other way to lock the battery in place.

any issues with the cables hitting the battery when turning?

No issues, but I did secure the cables to the stem with some gorilla tape just to be safe. No issue with the bike. Over 1,130 miles as of me writing this. I've had it for a little over a month. It's been a great little e-bike.
