There is always some twists and turns in the first edition of any event, and the Jewro d'Italia is no exception.

Of course some of the spectators were over enthusiastic and not behaving the way it should be. But considering savety issues, only two part taking, pretty much unknown israeli riders and the lack of beeing a cycling Nation it amazes me how many of the Israelis have shown up. Just to get an Impression of how uncommon this much of enthusiasm for cycling in that Region is search for the 2016 World Championships in Doha and compare.

I'm living not far from Zichron and when I saw this I was like WTF they trying to do?!
@PamelaProPeace6 жыл бұрын
I was in the crowd in Zichron and all I saw was happy people cheering and encouraging the riders. Amazing atmosphere - loved every minute. And if you bother to watch interviews with the riders themselves you will hear them say how touched they were by the enthusiasm of the crowd, how amazed they were that people turned out all along the route to cheer them along. (But why do that when you can slur and sneer?)
@abcabcboy6 жыл бұрын
I thought it was great too. I think Zichron was one of the more beautiful spots on the route. And I love those guys, it just could easily turn into a bad accident for the riders.

Viviani is the only 'good' sprinter in the Giro. He will get destroyed by the big guns in the Tour de France.

Affenford. You do know that lap of the race went on for HOURS with enthusiastic well-behaved spectators cheering them on? So a few guys got over-enthusiastic for all of - what - 20 seconds? That's what you focus on? Watch the interviews with the CYCLISTS. All they talked about was the tremendous support they got and how touched they were by the Israeli fans. Now that's sportsmen talking. Try taking a leaf out of their book. What the competitors had to say! facebook.com/goisrael/videos/10156484328446941/

What those Israeli fans did at 0:58 was just stupid. If they would have caused a crash, I doubt the organizers would come back to Israel.

I live in Israel. So I am aware that in general Israelis give a warm welcome yet that behaviour at 0:58 was still stupid and could have caused a crash.

Maybe not the brightest thing to do (no argument from me on that) but the cyclists, having basically had to cycle right up the mountainside, were crawling up the last part of the steep slope within Zichron that leads to the Midrechov. I walk it often as I live round the corner and I can promise you that no-one was going fast. So let's not make a mole-hill out of a mountain 😀😀 Now if the guys had run out after the cyclists turned the corner and were on the slope down ... thankfully they didn't!

If you look at the footage at 1:30 you can see that one of the runners is actually running right in front of the cyclist who is doing his best to catch up to Gilad. If I was that cyclist, the first thing I would have done after I crossed the finish line at the top of the hill would be to get off my bike and plant my foot up that guys ass for blocking me while I'm spitting blood to catch the lead rider.
