It is amazing how quickly you can loose abilities when confined to bed for extended times. I once spent a month confined to bed in isolation in hospital. Once released, I had a very difficult time 'relearning' how to walk. It didn't last long, but it was quite disconcerting at the time. And the reason I was hospitalized was for a seriously infected surgical wound that worked its way into the bone plated back together, hence being in isolation, but it was on my arm, not legs. The quickness that you loose muscle tone through inactivity is astonishing.
