Zorst, plugs and tune will get you about an extra 70bhp at crank. Forget the boost recirculation valves and intake mods (cause boost leaks as the IPD kit always pops off). A good set of intercoolers helps you keep the extra 70bhp for longer. For 150bhp you'd need to swap out to a bigger turbo like a GT2 VTG and stick in a hybrid compressor wheel. Hybrid GT2 VTGs will give you 150bhp +

Hello... Plugs, tune, and exhaust is 130bhp all day long. We have done hundreds of cars since 2014 with our VR Tuned. We test on a Mustang Dyno where you see about a 20-25% drivetrain loss. We have done the VTG turbo upgrades as well. Watch here www.vividracing.com/blog/video-modding-vr-tuning-and-dyno-testing-the-porsche-997-turbo/

Not true though. Those factory turbos can put out a decent amount of more boost

Great video. I had a 996 turbo and now a 997.1 turbo. I can’t even imagine it with another 130 more Hp. I recently replaced the plugs and coils with oem plugs so I won’t be doing a tune (and what an expensive job that is alone) but I’m getting really to get rid of the heavy restrictive oem exhaust. The 997 turbo is the best all round sports car ever made best version ever made imo. I recently installed the new PCCM Plus unit that was a very nice upgrade. I have the DSC suspension controller too which was a very needed upgrade too. Cheers.

The ECU flash is so simple to do and improves the car a lot. You should try it!

@ I’m worried about not having the correct temp plugs and causing other problems. Thanks

@@vivid_racing and I read some of the comments and all the potential problems with the 997 turbo and that one poster listed and scared all us. I found it interesting he said to install the upgraded purge valve have you heard anything like that b4 or had and issues with a bad purge valve on a 997 turbo? Thanks again

I jsut bought an '09 Turbo on BaT to join my '07 GT#3 and '06 Carerra S. I am considering the aforementioned mods and maybe the RENNline coil packs. Any recommendations on coil packs?

Rennline or BBI. I can help you out email me dan@vividracing.com

good mods... however everyone and I mean everyone needs to proceed with caution when buy a 997.1 turbo... these cars are if not kept in good condition or if you are unlucky like me you need to be very wary of a lot of things that can go wrong with these cars. The front diff can go bad, if you do not know of a shop that can rebuild it then we are talking 8.6k GBP from Porsche just for the part. The gearbox... 2nd gear popout in manual gearboxes very common and the textbook case for a 2nd gear popout is under deceleration, in a test drive floor the car in second and let it decelerate in that gear, if it holds ur good, if not then 2nd gear syncro is work and needs to replaced... you need to open the gearbox and from what ive seen probs around 3.7k GBP to fix this. Another gearbox big money item... the pinion shaft yes... that can fail and cause clunking... that is even more expensive to fix probs 5-7k GBP. Next on the agenda the turbos! the turbo seals can fail, turbos can be rebuild however! if the oil feed pipe is heavily corroded and the workshop cannot take this out then you will need to drop the engine!! 10 hours labour, here in the UK... 1k gbp. The turbos to get them reconditioned 450-800GBP per turbo. Flywheel... if the car has not had its flywheel changed when the clutch was changed that is another big ticket item, clutch kit and flywheel inclduing parts and labour here in the ranges from 2.4k - 3.1k GBP... the higher figure being where some specialists have said its a must for the engine to drop to change the flywheel. The list goes on and on with these cars. Coolant leak, make sure the car ur getting has pinned coolant lines. Spun camshafts can happen too, which is another big ticket item as with the coolant lines, all requiring engine to be dropped. I should make a whole video on these cars to tell people the reality of owning it, its a good car but bloody hell is it expensive if it goes wrong. Big end engine failure, i.e. the crankshaft can fail on these cars, that requires a total engine rebuild. Engine rebuilds in the UK is quite sickening really in terms of prices north of 20k and beyond. some placed have said 35k GBP... insanity. AT LEAST THERES NO BORESCORING lol

Just from you saying GBP that means you are in the UK. I dont know if that is the issue here in the USA so cant say what you are referring to is true. I think the best recommendation for anyone buying a Used Porsche is to have a PPI done at the dealer.
@MotorDynasty2 ай бұрын
@@vivid_racing that's correct in the UK. Specialists seem to be making a killing here. Either way the issues I have mentioned are all very realistic. Also make sure the purge valve has been replaced to the newer version. The realities need to be shown to make people aware that these cars are not entirely bullet proof

i had my 2007 911 Turbo tuned by you guys but I was told there wasn’t time to have it dyno’d that day (I was there at 1pm) Would i be charged again for a dyno/retune? it’s losing power at the upper RPM range. I installed the NGK spark plugs that were recommended and it still had that issue where it feels that it runs lean up top at WOT. thanks in advance

We do not do any tuning on the dyno. All ECU flashing is done with proven files flashed via OBDII or direct to ECU depending on the car. We no longer use our dyno for public and only internal projects. The file you have already is most likely the best file you would get anyways as we do not update them.
@techlaw997Ай бұрын
What happens to the original tune file? Can you put it back to stock if you sell it?
@vivid_racingАй бұрын
Yes, you can!
@mh00722 ай бұрын
Do you have Dyno numbers showing the HP improvements over stock on the mods you’re recommending?
@vivid_racing2 ай бұрын
We do have dyno numbers. We use a Mustang Dyno here in Arizona on 91 octane. Typically we see a 20-25% drivetrain loss on cars. We usually dont like to share dyno charts anymore because it opens up a can of keyboard warrior warms for those that do not understand dynos. Do you need to upgrade the clutch for this? I was told that extra horsepower and the clutch will go.
@vivid_racing2 ай бұрын
Im going to do another video on the different clutch recommendations. I can tell you that if the stock clutch is working, dont change it. It may or may not good depending on how you are driving it. There are a lot of advantages to upgrading the clutch and flywheel. Its not 100% required. Since nothing you are changing requires dropping the trans, you dont need to do it same time. Subscribe for that next video!
