I have had the Kiron 2/28. It was fairly OK but when I got my hands on the Pentax-M 2.8/28, I was simply done with it. No comparison at all...

Hard to say because imho vivitar have better bokeh, maybe a little better color rendering and a little nicer image but it's not perfect. Vivitar has disadvantages like worse image qulity between F1.9 to 2.8 and visible chromatic abberation to f4 (coma, ugly blue chromatic abberation and weird rainbow flares at corner) but if these disadvantages are an advantage for you then this might be the lens for you. MY Kiron has very good optical quality open wide (maybe I found a good one. I heard from my friend that his lens was optically inferior) Kiron also has coma as you can see in test and for me has weird and non attractive bokeh. So I'm keeping both at the moment because both are useful to me and i don't know which one to sell .
