Just for you to know, Shangri-la was the first Korean traditional concept by a boy group that got a huge attention at MBC gayodaejaejeon in 2017, which led following groups to try Korean traditional concepts for their own. The song was written ALL in korean, no English at all, and all members got their hair dyed black. The fan choreo was no joke, that they had to practice hard. You should react to their dance practice of Shangri-la, too.

I never thought people would react to them these days but I can’t say i'm not happy, i've been a fan ever since 2014 with their beautiful song “error” and to this day i still think they’re one of the unique and interesting groups that are considered a hidden gem these days but one you find them, it’s hard to forget about them. I mean there is a reason why they’re called “concept kings” and i think it fits them very well. I heard they will be back soon and i've never been so happy. Vixx and B.A.P are easily one of my favorite groups even though B.A.P has disbanded “good for them!” And Vixx had a lot of issues the past few hears but as a fan, i'm glad to see them back.

Voodoo doll is something else, I’m pretty sure it was their first win! There’s actually a “clean” version too if you wanted to watch that one without the body gore (if I remember correctly, wasn’t this the first kpop video that got an 19+ rating? And that Hyuk technically couldn’t watch it cause he was 18 when it was released😂) Vixx is such a unique group though, visually they’re so imposing considering they’re all around 6’ which is definitely different in Kpop, but they also were definitely the concept kings and tried everything (making chokers popular was a big one). I also always loved their dances because while they may not be the most insane in difficulty for every song, they truly fit the songs on a performance level and their MVs usually always had stories, which is definitely not the norm anymore. Plus they incorporated a lot props which was cool (i.e. the staff in Voodoo doll, fans in ShangriLa) thanks for checking them out!!

A fun fact, since the first couple of songs from VIXX were very colorful and VIXX's mascot (ROVIX) looks like a cartoon robot, many children were actually fans of VIXX. Then the song On and On came out and VIXX turned dark, so basically all the moms from kids fans, became fans haha So I think that's why many VIXX fans were on the older side to begin with because they were moms who went with their children to fansigns and then became fans themselves later on ❤

Fell in love with ken from the start i see xD Vixx in their days known as concept kings they went all out from costume, video and choreo to fulfil a concept this era started during Hyde. Voodoo doll well, voodoo doll concept. Shangri la concept is east asian paradise you'll notice the lyrics in this song are purely korean. Scentist concept is perfume makers they even included scented cards in the album! Kinda terrifying but its inspired by a novel about perfumer turned serial killer that "preserved" their victims' scent- yeah when you read the lyrics n look at the red "perfumes" with this information its eerie 😭😭😅 Since you're not comfortable with grotesque concept I wont recommend Hyde. For next part pls do GR8U - concept: jekyll, cute and wholesome opposite of Hyde. They shoot the mv in reverse! Chained Up - concept: B̶D̶S̶M̶ uh... love slave. Look at those choreo 🫣🫣 Fantasy - concept: Hades, underworld. Theres a whole trilogy of Greek God but among them this is my fav. Now you see why VIXX are called the Kings of Concept. They are known for their story based MVs with choreography that is designed to be a part of the story. Fun fact: Ravi -- main dancer and main rapper -- is really good friends with Taemin and Kai. And yes, the guy you are in love with ("brown hair guy" in "Scentist") is main vocalist, Ken. LOL you said Ken's face was really recognizable and then you called him Hyuk. (All you have to do is search the member's name with the name of the MV and you will be able to see who each person was in the MV.) To me, Ken's name fits him very well, he has the most Ken doll look out of all the VIXX members, which might help you to recognize him. Leo was the blond in "Scentist" that was attracting you with his looks, Hyuk is the maknae with the auburn-colored hair. VIXX has a lot of great songs to watch during Halloween, or any time. I recommend checking out VIXX's "Error" MV and sub-unit VIXX LR's "Beautiful Liar" (Leo and Ravi) next, if you don't already have it on your list. If you want to really see how their concepts carry over into everything they do, you should check out their dance practice videos, especially "Voodoo Doll." They are also known for their dancing and for their really cool choreography. For example, for "Voodoo Doll" their choreography is all about being voodoo dolls, so the moves are supposed to look like they are the dolls being controlled by the girl and the giant pin is the needle that she keeps poking into the voodoo doll to inflict pain on them. As you can see, the song is called "Voodoo Doll," so the girl is using voodoo to control the members. As you probably know, you make a voodoo doll with an enemy or person you want to take control of or get revenge on in mind, and after putting a voodoo spell on it, it is now linked to that person, so everything you do to the voodoo doll that person will feel or react to. It's a way to make a puppet out of a person and force them to do and feel everything you want. In the MV, the girl is obviously crazy and unwilling to let N -- VIXX's leader -- go, so he is forced to endure the pain and suffering she puts him through. He tried to get away, but in the end her spell was too powerful and she pulled him back in. She is a sadist who enjoys inflicting pain on people and it gives her pleasure and makes her happy. The whole story is about being trapped in a toxic relationship. Look up a translation of the lyrics to see what the song is about. There is also a "clean" version of the "Voodoo Doll" MV. As you saw, the original version was rated 19+, which meant they couldn't show it on Korean TV, so they had to edit the footage to take out all the gruesome and violent images. And they had to change the choreography for their live comeback stage performances as well because the parts where they pretend to stab each other also were too explicit for live TV. Fun fact: When they shot this MV their youngest member, Hyuk, wasn't even old enough to watch the video, so he couldn't even see the final footage without special permission until he was of age. Therefore, if you want to show someone this MV, but they are too squeamish to be able to handle all the torture, you could show them the clean version, without all the blood. ;p However, they did have to cut a lot of the choreography, so it feels like it's missing something and it's harder to follow the storyline.

I had this phase where I was completely obsessed with VIXX. I got into them maybe a few months after the released scentist, and I fell DEEP into the rabbit hole. I watched almost everything they had put out which is rare for me. That 4-5 year hiatus and everything that happen during it was killing me, but I'm happy that they're back now even if N (my bias) couldn't participate. I'm such a huge Starlight, so bing watching this playlist is going to be like reliving my experience through you. If it wasnt for their long hiatus they'd probably still be my #1 ult group. You should watch Shangri-La remix version, I swear you will love it 😊 The stage of 'Shangri La' at the Gayo Daejejon became so famous that VIXX was invited to perform at IOC (International Olympic Committe) General Assembly opening event for the Pyeongchang Olympic. They performed in front of no other than the President of South Korea ❤ Fun fact: Hakyeon/N's picture (him in Shangri-La's costume) was on the front of the korean presidential website for a year (or maybe more? I got into this group at the end of 2012 right before they came back with On & On (I was also listening to them casually since Super Hero), and they became my favorite boy group not long after. Until KNK (also a tall group) in 2016, I don't think I've been as into any boy groups as much as I was with them. Maybe as a tall man, I have a thing for tall men. 😂😂😂 The memories!! I graduated high school shortly after VIXX's debut and I spent a lot of my summer listening to Kpop and playing video games. 😭Growing up a gamer, their early concepts were right up my alley. Rock Ur Body would be great to check out too.

Voodoo doll is one of my fave VIXX songs. They are the kings of the dark concept. After they started doing really dark concepts other groups in the industry followed suit. Any concept they do others tend to do the same one. Like others have said they are the concept kings for a reason.

Our Concept Kings! For a part two I would highly recommend On&On, Chained Up, and while I would love the whole Conception Trilogy in particularly Fantasy is amazing and was my introuction to VIXX ☺️

I totally agree with VIXX staples like Fantasy, The Closer, and Dynamite!!! But VIXX is one of the only groups where I’d suggest their comeback shows before their music videos (Ken does such a smooth move to open his verse in the live Scentist choreo) 😭😭😭 They put so much effort into their live theatrics and facial acting that most groups cannot match. BUT I have to also recommend My Valentine! It’s off the same album as Scentist and you’d definitely love the sensuality of song/performance

Ken is so attractive haha and actually his personality is really adorable and pure. My bias in SVT is DK and I thought they have a lot in common (they have such a strong vocal but also have soft, pure personality )

Omg! I got so emotional for some reason, I didn't realize how much I missed them. I did consider myself a Starlight in the past and it had been such a long time since I listened to Superhero, so many memories came back to me 😭 this video rekindled my love and obsession for VIXX. VIXX will always be so dear to me, I was a hardcore Starlight till their hiatus and unfortunate happenings to the members. I think you would enjoy their music as someone probably already mentioned they are called Concept Kings for a reason. I would suggest their Greek Mythology trilogy (Dynamite, Fantasy, The Closer) and Chained Up is a must 😌 They have some great b-sides - My Valentine, Black Out, INTO THE VOID, Love Me Do, Desperate, Hot Enough are some of my favorites.
