@@neilgriffiths6427 I know, right! I swear, SO many people think Elvis actually was an alien, or that he was abducted by aliens, or at the very least, faked his own death. Not even kidding, back in.... 20 years to the day(Aug 16, 1997) after he died... ironically a little over a month after this movie released, because it was such a "huge event", I concocted a story that Elvis was actually killed "just that morning on his way back from his hide-a-way home in Canada when the plane he was on crashed". I was working a retail job, so I got to talk to a lot of customers that day... told every single one of them the same story, all day long. I think maybe 3 or 4 "called bullshit" on it, of the 400+ customers I dealt with that day. My coworkers were absolutely amazed at how many just bought the story with no supporting proof at all. It was hilarious!

My favorite part is the "test" all the candidates go through, and how Jay unintentionally nails it. He's the only one who figures out that you can't take the test without a TABLE, was the only one who caught that Zed didn't actually answer the question about why they were all there, and he was the only one in the firing exercise actually paying attention to what he was shooting at.
@Eidlones
@Eidlones 3 жыл бұрын
For the shooting range, I get the idea behind it, but any normal person wouldn't go into that and think "Oh he's just working out, not a threat", without being told beforehand what the test was actually about. There's no reason to think that way in that situation, based off the fact they were probably just told it's a shooting range.

That probably would've been cataclysmic. The Galaxy, (and the associated marbles that our reality seems to inhabit) are very likely a form of zero-point reactors, creating a bubble universe from which to extract an entire universe's-worth of zero-point energy without violating conservation. . Smashing it would either "release" that universe, causing essentially a second Big-Bang in our preexisting universe, or it would destroy that universe, in which case the energy still all has to go somewhere and might well just be another Big Bang anyway. No matter what happens, nobody's surviving it.

@juzujuzu4555
@juzujuzu4555 3 жыл бұрын
Cats truly enjoy killing for sport. Dogs are nice only because we enslave them. Having less intelligence doesn't make you innocent. That word is meaningless. It's like calling viruses and bacteria innocent. The most developed species is usually the most capable of both good and evil. And the irony is that people who look humanity as evil are actually evil themselves. Acknowledging that humanity is the most evil species but also the most loving and caring species lead to nurturing the good while fighting the bad. The true evil people who want to enslave humanity, and have managed to do so already, wants us all to think humanity as evil. That paralyzes people, they do not fight the evil or nurture the good. Thus they become sort of allies to those who control the whole thing. Society brainwashes us all to become like that, unless you had superb parents who managed to save you from that. It's our job to break free from that brainwashing. One important thing to do is to stop consuming media. You mostly get lies and brainwashing there. The most common brainwashing is just to tell the same lies over and over for decades, it is simple and yet massively effective. But there are other ways too, which I won't go into. Of course enjoying movies and TV shows is still possible, especially after acknowledging that there is brainwashing in most of media. Just acknowledging that has shown to drop most of the effectiveness. Research is my passion, and these topics have been ones of the most important topics of mine. So forgive the long comment, and I'll digress.

In point of fact learned people knew the earth was round. The just thought that Columbus was severely wrong in his estimate of the length of a western voyage to the Orient. Columbus actually expected to make landfall in Japan where he found Hispaniola. Also, sailors weren't worried about sailing off the edge; just sailing so far they ran out of enough food and water to get back alive. Not much was known about Atlantic currents at that time.

Can anyone dissect the problems that MIB 2, 3 and beyond presented that lessened it? I hate to think that Will Smith was The Problem but I simply don't get into '2' until Tommy Lee Jones joins in, and by that point, I felt I was almost bored and kinda gave up. '3' brought me in with much much lower expectations and maybe it lived up (down?) to those, but still... I can't figure out what is so disappointing except "Tommy Lee Jones" and the "Newness/Freshness of the ideas were all gone." Maybe it was like watching BEVERLY HILLBILLIES... after the same lame standard jokes, they all get old and real fast.

At 9:43 his prediction about that Micro Disc was actually not out of left field. There was always speculation about how small optical discs could get, which was likely the inspiration for the fantasy disc in the movie. This was a time when a several media formats were competing for dominance. One of those was called the Dataplay format which was released in 2001 began development in 1998. It used optical discs about the same size as the one Tommy Lee was holding. However, rather than the naked disc, it was encased in a plastic cartridge similar to one found on those old floppy discs, but with a more stylish design. It never caught on because the format only held 500 MB per disc, other formats were starting to get cheaper, and you couldn't re-write to the disc. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3ashIyXjMx2iMk That video teaches more about the format.
@michaelccozens
@michaelccozens 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, have to remember that the mp3 format that enabled so many changes in how we deal with music, from P2P file-sharing to making mp3 players a practical option for portable music storage/playback, was only invented in 1991 and didn't even get its final version until 1998. CD players didn't start routinely supporting the format until the early 2000s. If "medium-less" music tech (ie players that didn't require removable storage) hadn't developed so quickly, and done so in combination with exponential increases in the availability of bandwidth, transmission speed, and digital storage, and concomitant exponential decreases in the prices of same, minidiscs and other such formats would have had some time dominating the market. Didn't shake out like that, though. There's a relationship here with that old idea that, for a very long time, it was very hard to beat the "bandwidth" and "transmission speed" of a truck loaded with physical storage devices that you just drove to where-ever you wanted the data.
