Homelander kind of had a point about Ryan. Everyone lying to him and never telling him what he is was a terrible idea. Imagine if the first time he found out about his super strength was when he got a little angry in a kids soccer game and kicks some poor kid in to orbit.

Homelander wanted to tell Ryan because Homelander was all about realizing Ryan's full potential. He didn't care if Ryan kicks some poor kid into orbit. I get the general point though. If anything, perhaps Ryan should have been introduced slowly to the idea. It wasn't even obvious even to Becca that Ryan had superpowers until Homelander tried to get him to use them.

FYI factoid both Butcher and his dad were in Lord of the Rings Both Karl Urban and John Noble starred in Peter Jackson's film trilogy, with Noble playing Denethor II and Urban playing Éomer. *And NO I will never forgive John Noble's lips for smacking those tomatoes in my ears!*

A family is the only thing Homelander has ever wanted. He actually does appear to love his son and want to be a father to him but he’s so messed up that he goes about it in harmful ways. Antony Starr does a fantastic job switching emotional gears to show it. It’s also Homelander’s only weakness besides his obsession with polling points and public image.

the Fresca people had no idea this show was going to use their product. Kripke and writers just had an inside joke that Fresca was "the drink of cult members". However Fresca didn't complain because the free advertising did boost their sales 11% for the first 3/4s of the year after this season aired. Coca-Cola were originally going to sue, but realised they benefited from the unknown product placement

Homelander having a wank will never not make me laugh. The finale to this season was so flippin' good. S3 also slaps (RIP Timothy). Another show you should put on your list is Mr Robot. It's only 4 seasons and very tightly written. Killer story, good humor, great social commentary and phenomenal acting. Also Christian Slater. It follows a vigilante hacker's struggles with mental health and the viewer (you) is the main character's imaginary friend, but I don't want to spoil more than that given the show is packed with twists and turns. A nice easter egg is the fact that all of methods and tools the characters use in the show are real and entirely plausible, with a few caveats.

I binge-watched all of season 3 a few days ago, and if you thought these first two seasons were wild and boundary pushing, you haven't seen anything yet. It's like the first two seasons aired on network TV and the third season moved to Showtime. :) Season four starts in two days, and they've announced that season five will be the last. Of course there's still the spinoff, Gen V, currently awaiting a second season.

I think Homelander really did listen to Becca. He does want what's right for Ryan - but he doesn't understand what that is. He never had a loving parental relationship, so he can't see the main differences in how Ryan has been raised so far, and how he was raised. I just think that after they left the house, offscreen, Stormfront got in his ear again and convinced him that taking Ryan away really was the best thing for him. :( Also check Homelander's expression while Stormfront is indoctrinating Ryan. When HOMELANDER thinks you're going too far - that's REALLY bad. LOL totally agreed - maybe DON'T yell that "your only chance" is in that car, and maybe NOT draw Stormfront's attention to it? I just wish Butcher had shoulder-checked Homelander as he walked past him with Ryan in his arms - but I don't know, maybe that would have been enough to push him over the edge and make him attack.

I know you're a little ways away from it, but I would thoroughly recommend that once you complete Season 3, you watch Gen V before moving on to the soon-to-be-released Season 4 - it is set in the same world, and there does look like there will be some character crossover between the two series (it was also just as good as The Boys!)

I think it's genuinely hilarious that the utterly repulsive Stormfront is played by a sweet-natured JEWISH woman. Aya Cash is fantastic in the role and so is Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko) who is the living embodiment of adorable bubbly energy. The fact that she never says anything in the show is doubly funny if you watch BTS interviews with the cast.
