The character perfectly embodied ruthlessness.
@memehistorianj3 жыл бұрын
Vlad Dracula, Son of the Dragon. Inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula character. One of the bars no one gets (because its not a very well known thing) is the part about "neck washes". People who were going to be executed had their neck washed, and Vlad didn't really care about such things when he executed anyone, hence the "not very keen on neck washes". Interesting theory: the reason vampires don't have reflections is likely because mirrors back then were backed with silver, a HOLY metal. Nowadays though, vampires would likely have a reflection due to the fact we don't back mirrors with silver anymore
@ForeverDegenerate3 жыл бұрын
The only problem with that theory (and it's an interesting one, don't get me wrong) is that Silver was never a weakness of Vampires. Silver was always the weakness of Werewolves. Vampire weaknesses were Stakes, Crosses, Garlic, The Sun, and Holy Water.
@memehistorianj3 жыл бұрын
@@ForeverDegenerate silver was (and still is) used in crosses, but also because vampires can shift their shape and form. All forms of shapeshifters have a weakness to silver due to like, it being pure or some shit I can't remember, but there are mythos of vampires and vampire-like creatures have weakness to silver. Also, vampires are powerless in moving water (rivers and oceans) and can't move over it naturally, so you can also say vampires can be beaten by any body of water bigger than a puddle

Yes, Dracula is based off Vlad…but there’s no comparison. Dracula is a “Twilight” version of Vlad. Dude was a hero to his people and a devil to his enemies. Those impaled often had a sharpened wooden posts forced in through their anus, but stoppers were placed horizontally through the post to prevent it from going deep enough to kill instantly. When emissaries from Islamic Turkey came to visit and refused to remove their turbans, he literally nailed them to their heads and sent them back home. Dracula is the PG version of Vlad.

@@mouseshadow5828 I care; but only because I find this stuff interesting. Dracula is what is known as a sobriquet, a descriptive nickname that often becomes more familiar over time than a persons actual name (e.g. Mahatma Gandhi instead of Gandhi's real name: Mohandas). Vlad II received the title, Dracul only after he was appointed to The Order of the Dragon in 1431. In Romanian dialect, words that end with the letter A means "son of" hence, Vlad Drăculea (Dracula), son of the dragon or sometimes, son of the devil; depending on the source. But, sobriquets aside, his real name was Vlad Tepes III.
