What an inspirational teacher and a fabulous dancer! Old school classical ballet to the core, the discipline ,the difficulty coordinating every part of your body to make the whole movement so perfect. It’s only when you watch them at practice you realise just how difficult ballet really is. Bravo to this amazing teacher who even at his age can give the youngsters a run for their money. A perfectionist to the core!👏👏👏👏

The first ballet performance I have ever seen as a child was Spartak, an old film in television, with Vladimir Vasiliev in the title role, and his wife Ekaterina Maksimova in the female title role; and Maris Liepa as Crassus. They were the reason why I was drawn to ballet ever since.

Thank you so much for this!!!!!! This is a true DANCE class. He teaches them how to dance, not how to execute steps. “dance immediately“! He is one of the masters of personified dancing. It is enough that he stands there and explains and he is more present and more fascinating than anybody else even when they perform. I love it!

Vasiliev was such an icon even before this class that I wouldn’t have been able to do anything but look at him like a halfwit, lol! I don’t have favorites in the fine arts....if I think someone is amazing at singing or playing or dancing one piece, there are always others who are amazing, too, and who bring a different perspective and interpretation to it. I find this process so interesting, and I feel people who have one idol and who watch others only to put the, down insufferable. But when it comes to male danseurs, Vasiliev always seems to edge others out, except for Irek Mukhamedov....he is right up there, in my estimation. Both are so physically dominant, but becoming the character seems to be of utmost importance to them.

Nureyev, the overrated who owe his fame to his defection, in full cold war he was made a hero and a overnight sensation just for political reasons. I have seen him stumble in the western stages.Only his monstrous ego and no competition whatsoever made him what we think he was. Had he stayed back in Russia he would have to face the likes of Liepa, Lavrowsky, Soloviev and many more but, must of all our one and only Vladimir Vasiliev whom he had nothing to teach but everything to learn from.

Such an inappropriate comment. Firstly, you are very lucky to have access to this video without paying for it. Secondly, you are even luckier to get any translation, with Konstantin Durnev (who was in the class) taking the time to translate it for our (and your) benefit. The subtitles are easily understood for ballet dancers; and you can always stop the video if you are a slow reader.
@musicloverlondon60703 жыл бұрын
@@normamimosa5991 Agreed. Kind of Mr Furnev to take the trouble. I found the subtitles informative and easy to read. Maybe more technically knowledgeable people are aware of gaps somewhere, I don't know. However, this unique video is great and the subs were very helpful. Thank you to the uploader and to Konstantin Furnev for this. 🙂👍 Edit: Kudos to the dancers in the video. Some impressive dancing shown, including those amazing jumps in what seems to be quite a small practice room. Perilously close to the wall/barre at times it seemed though!
