--------
Singer Johnny Gill candidly discussed his relationships and approach to dating, including his youthful crush on Janet Jackson. Gill admitted that he was never one to go out and assert himself, but rather, remained reserved, backing off immediately if his affections were not reciprocated. Recognizing that many opportunities may have been lost due to his shyness, the singer notes that his fear of rejection held him back. He also revealed details about his entry into the hit group, New Edition. Gill hopped aboard the group amid some tension, as Bobby Brown was booted out and lead singer Ralph Tresvant was considering a solo career. Shockingly, Gill mentioned that when he joined the group, he was unaware of the internal issues they were facing at the time.

He said that Johnny could back up Ralph's vocals but Ralph couldn't back up Johnny because of Johnny's heavier voice. Had been a JG fan since the JG and Stacy Lattisaw days. I was so thrilled to see that New Edition, my favorite my group, had signed Johnny. As a sophomore in college, my friends and I bought the Heart Break album and realized that Johnny gave NE the grown up sound we didn't know they needed. Home Again came out when I moved on my own from my home state of Florida to Charlotte NC so it became the soundtrack to that amazing summer of change. So meaningful. What happened in the BET series isnt totally accurate. Bobby was misbehaving because Jump & Shoot their management company was stealing from NE. This is why Carol Brown, Bobbys mom is shown always asking for money. MCA knew the managers were pimping them. Once Bobby was dropped from Jump & Shoot, MCA signed him directly. Bobby was the first signed to MCA, then the other 4 as NE. Bobby was never signed to MCA as a NE member, but the other 5 were.

One thing for sure I know about the A when I was young. Heartbreak doesn't last long. You'll be sad a minute, but if you were out like we were, another group would be by in a minute. It's too many to be sad, and in the old days, the attitudes weren't existence. Like Joc said, we have a conglomerate of HBCUs. So it's a lot of educated women. We have a lot of strip clubs. So you got two routes. I always went the educated route. I do have homegirls who are strippers they use to tell me stories that had me rolling. These dudes are out here wild!

This is something I know these young guys don't do. Who remembers what an actual library looks like that is where I use to me my wife daily and have privacy while doing homework.

Each member when talking about bringing in Johnny Gill tell a false story that they all now stick to. Another song writer/singer was brought in to audition "before" they brought in Johnny Gill. If Larkin Arnold is still alive he will tell you himself. I am just going to have to write a book about it to clean up the untruth that they have been spinning for 35 years.
