Ken was already old and past his prime, so that fight with Tito doesn't mean much. A prime Ken was a whole different animal, he was strong as hell and a very dominant fighter then. The problem with Ken is he never knew when to quit, so when he kept fighting way past his prime, he gave these younger fighters like Tito an opportunity to brag that they beat the great Shamrock.

Finally on my first official birthday we were in Huntington Beach California in January 22 1975, it was such a coincidence this day happened to be a rainy day as well, it blew my mind. So anyway we were in room 318 on the third floor at the hospital and we had to move to room 319 because there were technical difficulties with the equipment in the room. I remember so vividly because I just wanted to jump out and punch the machine and tell the doctor to hurry up. I disagree with the both of you the ufc back then was amazing but now it’s much more of a sport, in order to be champion you have to be well rounded and technical back then it was a lot more like striker vs grappler don’t get me wrong that still exists these days but not with most of the guys that are ranked. The ufc/mma is in its prime and it’ll keep growing and getting more and more exposure because fighters, training camps, coaches and even fans are getting a lot more wiser and knowledgeable about every aspect of the mma fight game by every aspect I mean not just the stand up striking and the ground game but also the Clinch game, footwork, level changes, counter striking, defense, head movements, shoulder rolls, etc. Don’t get me wrong the old era was really fukin brutal and exciting but I won’t lie most of the fans during that time just wanted to see two guys standing in front of each other wildly swinging at one another without even caring and noticing recognizing technique. Basically what I’m saying is the sport is evolving into a respectable legit sport, I respect y’alls opinion though but I disagree.

Ken at the time had a blown out ACL & shoulder injury as to why he couldnt shoot, sprawl, kick or submit, he cut down to 201 from 215-220 & his body crashed he said it was the worst feeling he had he felt weak, Tito was 205 at the weigh ins & the fight night he was 225. Tito was top of the food chain then, he beat everyone (except Frank) from the lions den, he beat mikey brunette, jerry bolander, guy mezger (rematch) & Ken was way out of his prime & didnt really even train, the UFC offered to pay for Kens knee after the fight it was so bad. BUt Tito was hungry he wanted to take Kens name & add it to his victories , he worked with Rico Rodriquez, collin oyama, scott adams & marc lamon so he had a full force pushing him where Ken was stuck in the old NHB days of lions den training. Those days were tough, hard & brutal but times changed & MMA was transitioning into who was better prepared conditioned wise & well versed in all styles
