Part 24: • Lance "Un" Rivera on R...
Part 1: • Biggie's Business Part...
--------
In this clip, Vlad asked Lance “Un” Rivera about Lil Kim dropping her debut album “Hardcore” on his label, Undeas Recordings, and the album going platinum after Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s debut album. Vlad then spoke to Lance about Biggie preparing to drop his second album and preparing to drop “The Commission.” When Vlad stated that Jay-Z was supposed to be part of the album, which led to Lance speaking about arguing with Dame Dash about which label the project was going to drop. From there, Lance spoke about Biggie having plans to break various artists, including Charli Baltimore, Jay-Z, Craig Mack, and Mase. Rivera then pointed out that Biggie’s vision was made public on “What’s Beef.”

I'm glad Un cleared that up. People act like Jay was one of the top rappers back when B.I.G. , Nas, and even 2pac back then. Jay didn't break til his 3rd album "Vol. 2." That's when Jay-Z became nationally known. And that was after Pac and B.I.G's death.

No its not that. People act like Pac is responsible for Jay-Z success all because Pac dissed him. Even though Pac also Dissed Chino XL and Chino never became a hit maker. And Jay-Z second album came out after Pac dissed him and went gold just like his 1st album. And Jay`s first album came out before Pac dissed him. Its not until Jay`s third album is when he became a superstar and he became a Superstar because people liked his music not because Tupac dissed him.

People also got it wrong when they act like Jay-Z was a complete nobody in 96. He already had connections in the industry, was on Pac's radar, and his first album went gold. He would still hold his own even if Pac and Big were alive. Just wouldn't have blown up as fast

Not really lol It’s common knowledge that jay was always the underdog. The real revision of history is people tryna say now that he’s the overachiever or overrated because of where he’s at now in his career in comparison to his peers. He STARTED as the underdog and EXCEEDED expectations where it’s people tryna revise the history to say he’s always been overhyped and overrated his whole career when in reality he overcame the odds to become what he is today.

Un still in his feelings over Jay. The Nutty Professor with Aint no Ni**** dropped in March 1996. Reasonable Doubt dropped in June 1996. I’m old enough to remember Jay Z Aint No Ni**** was all over the radio in Florida around the movie dropping. You mean to tell me Jay Z had a video from a major movie soundtrack starring Eddie Murphy and Jay Z did have any juice yet. That’s ridiculous Big couldn’t break Jay Z he was already out buzzing. Jay had already done the Big L tracks. Original Flavor, Jaz O, Sauce Money they were moving. Just say you don’t like Jay Z but don’t try to rewrite history!

You mentioned all that shit, and Jay-Z couldn't even get a major label deal for his first album lol. Roc-A-Fella had to put Reasonable Doubt out under Priority as a last resort. Jay-Z was just another rapper in '96. Biggie and 2Pac had to die in order for him to become what he became. Btw, for those who weren't alive, the real hit from the Nutty Professor sdtk was "Touch Me, Tease Me" by Case and Foxy Brown (who was also way bigger than Jay-Z in '96), not "Ain't No Nigga," which did make noise, but didn't go platinum.

@@MichaelBrown-ti1un that speaks more about how dumb the industry is for not signing him. Secondly it’s called faith look how many artist got signed, are broke, don’t own their masters, looking crazy today. Jay Z has a dozen commercially successful albums, Grammy’s, Married to Beyonce plus a Billionaire. He is the Blueprint no disrespect to KRS. Jay Z has won big at every level of Hip Hop. I know Touch Me was the biggest single from the Soundtrack. That was the lead single a major hit. It’s nonsense to imply Jay Z didn’t have motion before B.I.G came along. Just say I still don’t like him. 💯💯
