He didn't know if he was going to say that. They would've clarified it all anyway because we all know ethically/legally underaged means under the age of 18. By rephrasing it to teenagers technically R. Kelly could've just said "Yes" and then backed up his answer with 18 19 still being teenagers. Him rephrasing didn't do much. That's why I am lost.

Him rephrasing is just an act of reverse psychology, like you said, ultimately it would've led to the same answer in the end but it would PROBABLY lead to a different response also, further proving their point. I think he already "assumed" R.Kelly was going to say some words to slither his way out, he was reading body language, tone of voice, etc, and at around 10:15 mark he knew R.Kelly wasn't going to be straightforward, thats why he reworded his sentence to begin with. So if R.Kelly would answered with what you said about teenage girls with "18 or 19", you can also add in that "13 and 14" are also in that bracket since it has 'TEEN' in it, so either way he was fucked from the start, it was just a matter of confirming the accustions. Nevertheless it was a very smart move on Touré's end.

@@EdSuavePerez Yeah I get it. But using underaged makes it far more efficient than teenaged. You get more out of the situation since with the latter option you're actually giving him a chance to state his moral case with the former, for how he views his situation and why he thinks it's okay. Just based off getting into the particulars now they are on the grounds of subjectivism and may the person with the best argument win. The underaged approach you simply deal with a cut off age from the getgo (a known law that is universal). He'd have far less wiggle room in my opinion. I guess it's a matter of preference of approach but I think it would've been a far better route for two reasons: 1) mine more information and 2) put him in a tighter position.

The crazy part about this is today my coworker reminded me that at the end of "She's got that vibe" remix he says "Little Aaliyah got that vibe" now I had to go do my googles. I heard it for myself, found out the song was recorded in 1991. So if we do the math R. Kelly was born in 1967 and Aaliyah was born in 1979. At the time of the recording he at 24 was saying a 12 year old girl "had that vibe" and that never raised any eyebrows? I was 6 at the time so of course I didn't realize what was going on. To be an adult and look back R. Kelly was a predator and women still threw their panties at him. This is beyond my understanding. He should have been cancelled. I wish people were a little more sensitive to this matter. I think we all forget that as teens we all wanted to be grown and be treated as grown. We all had crushes on people older than us be it a school teacher, singer, athlete, etc. And in the rare cases that older person were to be interested back in you it wouldn't take much for your young mind to go along with whatever that person wanted you to do, so let's not blame the victims as the human mind is not fully developed at the teenage years and that is the main reason we are still in a guardians care at that time of life. For most of us the affirmation of someone older being into you as a young person makes you feel accomplished in a sexual and mature way. Now add in the fact that this older person is a popstar who can buy you anything in the world you desire. Kelly went after these women because he is talented but highly uneducated and for him it's much easier to fool a naive young girl with his smile and money than a grown azz woman who has been thru some shit and knows better or can sense his bullshit. Add into the fact that his peers and the government is doing nothing to stop his actions even though the evidence is there and you have yourselves a monster that we may not have created but that we supported thru his music. All the fans that bought his music, his managers, his peers..everyone ..we all played a part in this and it's time that this comes to an end so no more little girls can be taken advantage of.

I don't know why he says R Kelly preferred girls older than 14 or 15, that is not true, his ideal age was 14 or girls who looked 14. That's why he had the girl recite her age as 14 on the video over and over again. And no I haven't seen any of the video and I would never want to see it, I would pay not to see it if someone tried to make me. But it has been reported and it was part of the trial. The only reason he dated any older girls was to try to be safe and save his own ass but he still looked for girls who looked and acted and crucially, were as vulnerable as 14 year olds. I also think it's strange that this guy doesn't seem to know what the legal age of consent is. I agree that a 50 year old man dating an 18 or 19 year old is still disturbing and gross but that is legal. Hugh Hefner dated lots of 18 and 19 year olds so even though it was extremely revealing and gross that R Kelly asked what he meant by teenagers, it made sense for him to say that because he could legally date 18 and 19 year olds even though morally and ethically it was an awful thing to do that and admit that he liked it, it wasn't against the law to say that and would actually not incriminate him and may actually have helped his case if he'd claimed that he thought all the girls were 18 and older.
