@jackcarver ik atmosphere is comprised of 2 acts and the fact slug is mixed is irrelevant to the point I'm making. Slug is not seen as a "black rapper" by white America he's viewed as a white rapper. I can understand where he's coming from, but I still disagree in some respects. There's also levels to this shit. If you're looking at the art of music and putting lyrics together and spittin, Eminem is 2nd to none. Creativity, vocabulary, emotion, he had all that. Now, he may not be approaching or engaging, but let's not act like that's a White thing. Many black artist or any major celebrity often times are standoffish. True his music may not resonate in black homes or barbershop atmosphere but there's is definitely a huge population of the black community that rock out to Eminem.

Lord Jamar is out of touch and comes across as racist and entitled. Hip Hop is a culture that is not specific to any color of skin. We all know that Hip Hop was started by black culture and it has taken proven to be loved and accepted by all races and creeds and become a staple genre. Any color of person can join a religion, celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, or participate in a culture or celebration regardless of where it originated and Hip Hop is no different. Also, Eminem, since the beginning of his career has had to fight his way into hip hop and earn his place. Also, he acknowledged early on that he was influenced by the culture and pretty much called himself a guest. His career and influence since making his beginning have more than cemented his role in hip hop as a founder of an era of the evolution of hip hop. Not to mention, Eminem has stuck up for the black community more than any other white rapper. He literally, released a song on Revival bringing attention to White privilege and black oppression by society. Much respect to Eminem. Give the man the respect he deserves.

Gavintech not really I’ve listened to plenty of artists, both rappers and great linguists. And I appreciate the bars more than anything. HOWEVER, that doesn’t reach far enough for me now. When I was 5 till 16, Eminem was one of, if not the best, cuz it was all about the rhyme and syllabics. But when you start needing substance as well as that masterful technique, Aesop & Joyner beat Em out, especially in this day and age. Substance ties in masterfully WITH technical proficiency is what is NEXT LEVEL, and for me personally Em hasn’t done that since Recovery(imo Recovery is lyrically better than any of his albums after). Revival has the right message and delivered in not the right way.

Dana.. How will he son him? A Whiteman being backed by a powerful Interscope machine will not be looked at as a sonning of Jamar in the black community.. It will be looked at as just what it is.. More of white privilege getting their way because they've monopolized the worlds resources, and control all media and industries that We Create.. thus they control the narrative.. Whites try to front like we are on some even playing field, and everything is just equality & one big melting pot here in America, When Its Not.. So he's right.. We live in two separate worlds.. I don't think he was going for "e fame" though and Jamar already had a reputation way before these interviews. The e fame was a natural result of putting eminem's name in his mouth because the Stan fanbase is obsessed with Eminem to a toxic extent. I would know. I'm a former toxic stan who is now just someone who respect Eminem as an artist. But he's not above criticism like anybody else.

@@KaosTheProducer I never said Eminem should be forbidden from rap or that I agreed with anyone who said that. I just said I can see what Jamar is trying to say about how there are other artists who represent hip hop and black culture a lot more than Eminem so I understand why Jamar sees him as a guest of the craft. Like I said, I'm a white rapper, obviously I don't approve of disregarding somebody because they're white. But some parts of what Jamar is saying makes sense and I think it's worth some consideration that there is a lot more to Hip Hop than just putting words together skillfully in a technical way. It's a whole culture.

People need to realize that Lord Jamar never had any problems with Eminem. He is only saying that hip-hop is a Black art form and White people are indeed guests. Now, they are welcome guests and some have even contributed into making great music, but it is still Black culture.
@TheDougSpot6 жыл бұрын
mistahmst There’s no such thing as black culture. This is just another form of racism that blacks people exhibit, and make it seem like it’s ok to be so closed minded. Hip Hop is not black music, it’s struggle music. It’s life music. Rick Rubin and the beauty boys were there from the beginning.

Not a well thought out comment thread. Not liking someone's music is not a indictment of personal animus. If he said I have nothing personal against, then say I think he's a piece of shit, that would be contradictory. I believe there is a war on truth. I'm not trying to argue over anyone's taste in music, because everybody has their own taste. But if you are a real fan of Hip-Hop, there is no way you can honestly say Eminem has no content. Name me one song from Black Thought, Big L, Andre 3000, Common, Method Man, Talib Kweli, Redman, Lauryn Hill, Pharoah Monch or any black lyricist that has ever played in any club, Jamar. You're the one keeping the division alive siding with culture vultures and trying to control the narrative. It's folks like you who are killing quality rap. Don't ever tell any generation that technical rap skills is nothing or never enough. It is something. It will always be something to a lot of people. Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Busta Rhymes, and Kool G Rap were technically proficient before Eminem, Royce Da 5'9 and such. You know Grandmaster Flash came before you and he doesn't divide and exclude lyricism as much as you do, Jamar. Joell Ortiz is a lyricist, and he is one of Grandmaster Flash's favorites. You're just another "old-millenial", while Grandmaster Flash is older and wiser than you. The fact you call yourself a Brand Nubian discouraging lyricism and don't appreciate new generations like Hopsin, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, or any new generation rapper shows that you only like a "certain" type of Hip Hop. You call yourself a "knowledge rapper", but you prefer Drake or Lil Wayne who are not knowledge rappers, which is hypocritical. Lol! You were once a guest yourself, so don't be a hypocrite and propagate your agenda pretending you care about Hip-Hop while all you're doing is excluding and singling out types of elements to create "Hip-Hop". All aspects are important of making good balanced Hip-Hop. I care less how long you've been in the game. You don't get to determine what makes a good rapper.
@chadalahio82666 жыл бұрын
Lyricism or clever rhyme scheme is one aspect. Em has had content, but he has lacked it highly over his career. Even that new Venom song blatantly shows that. He may not be able to help it also, because he is not in touch with any ground level aspect of real life and social situations. He is very skillful, but content unequivocally is not a strength if you compare him to any rapper known for content. To me, he is in the lane of Tech9 in lyricism. Both dope but not great in an all-around sense. So many different mc's have strengths to add to the game, but Em gets astronomical acclaim for his in comparison to most black mc's with great contributions through strengths. It isn't fair and equitable but that is the world we live in and has always been that way in my almost 40 years on this planet. Just is what it is til the world changes.

Man it don't even matter. Lord Jamar was 3rd best in his own group. When you lash out like this, you're feeling inferior to not only another man, but a white rapper. This dude is just lapping around the truth. And the truth is he's straight up jealous, and not confident in his skills. The bottom line is lyrically, Eminem is top 10. That's just not me saying that. Rakim, Nas, Jay Z, and Kool G Rap says the same thing. Now I would listen to them before I listen to this goof.
