Van almost answered his own question as to why Boosie is being targeted by the feds. In stating that Boosie is more of a personality than artist (though still doing music), it implies that Boosie is a voice for the people (ie a threat to “status quo”). If Boosie were just rapping ninja lyrics and getting the crowd going, he wouldn’t be deemed problematic. The gun IS NOT the weapon they’re concerned about. His views, and thus his voice, is what’s most threatening.
