Marc Lamont Hill stopped by VladTV to talk about politics, how rapper Pras helped donate 1.2 Million dollars to the Obama campaign, and how hip-hop should be more political. Vlad brought up Pras giving over 1 million dollars of his money to President Obama while he was running for president and asked Hill why he thinks other members of the hip-hop community don't give back more. Hill responded, "...I think some of the hip-hop generation did donate money; I just don't think they were public about it... I know some MC's, in particular, some of the big names who I know who donated a ton of money." Lamont when on to say he feels that the current hip-hop generation is active in politics and the Obama Campaign. "I want hip-hop to be the on saying what are yall doing; we need to do more...I want to see the hip hop generation, really speak out and follow that tradition we've always been a part of..."
Marc Lamont Hill talked further about his involvement in politics and more of his thoughts about Pras donating a large lump sum to the Obama campaign, and why people in politics typically donate money. "...there is influence that can be wielded, there are favors to be asked, a million dollars isn't a lot of money in politics... you definitely gonna get invited to the cool sh*t.... Pras ain't shaping policy, you know, but he is someone in the room... people in politics generally donate large sums of money so that can get favors and inform policy."
Hill also gave more insight into his thoughts on the Obama Campaign. Vlad asked Hill if he believed the Obama Campaign was overrated and Hill explained he's critical of it, and he doesn't feel it's as successful a presidency as other people of had. Hill explained although Obama has done things under his administration like pass Universal Healthcare, and approve gay marriage, Hill says he is looking at things from a global perspective and feels more could have been done. "I look at Syrians, I look at Palestinians, I look at people in Yemen, I look at people in Afghanistan, I look at people in Somalia, I look at people anywhere actually on the continent of Africa, and I see exploitation, I see social misery, I see random violence and I see a United States machine that has either been behind it, enabled it, or stood back and didn't do anything to stop it.

Joe Biden sure seems to think they’re rare. So much real racism in the democrat party but they get a pass. What are they actually doing to help the black community other than saying pretty words? Biden told a group of black men and ladies that the right was going to put them back in chains: He thinks they’re idiots and using their emotions to blindly support him and the dems. I feel many are finally starting to realize this. If you’re working off of emotions you can not make logical and correct decisions. Look at what happened to our privacy, etc and all the idiotic decisions made after 9/11. We have to do better and quit taking the bait. Everything is nit racism and nobody wants to put you back in chains unless you live in lybia or other Islamic country’s. Some people are just assholes but that doesn’t make them racist.

Even if thats the case...is it wrong? 99 pct of the black people Vlad interviews barely can form a proper sentence along with butchering the english language. It is rare to hear a black person on Vlad who can articulate coherently so it should be commended
@b617_3
@b617_3 8 жыл бұрын
Calm down white supremecist take a breather. If you interview a particular type of rapper all day of course they are not going to be the most articulate. Definitely not 99 percent that is a stretch. They are a sizeable amount of executives as well as past and current icons Vlad interviews that are articulate. The thing is, mark Lamont hill is an intellectual. What the hell did you expect him to sound like? It is redundant to tell a guy with a phd, which is more education than both of us combined, that he is articulate. If you analyzed my comparison of the Chris rock stand up piece correctly you would have understood that. Clearly you lack the most minimal comprehension skills.

No I can tell the warning signs of a white supremecist and I don't throw the word around loosely. "99% of black people Vlad interviewed Yatta Yatta yatta" is not an observation that's an irrational generalization. No thanks keep your micropenis in your pants please.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer not because of Obama, that has been happening for quite some time.

Thank you Marc Lamont Hill. Obama was a decent President but not the messiah that people make him out to be. He was a moderate Republican in Democrat clothing. He could have done way more but chose not to and was way to indebted to his corporate donors. That being said he did accomplish good things, he also did terrible things. There were pros and cons to his presidency, that being said you can't ignore his achievements completely. I hope in the coming years we can look at the Obama years clearly and judge him on his merits not on how much we liked him.

My opinion is that we are still running side ways. We spread ourselves to thin. While all people world wide are facing difficulties the major focus as all of humanity does in reference to their own, their own is first. We also have a difficulty with judging on an elementary level of primary colors. What the hell is a Black President. While not knocking the brother, by birth he was African but his internal self was European, I believe Irish. His demeaner, his understanding and his major influence was interpreted by his grandparents and mainly grandmother. It is the mind we need to concentrate on because color means nothing,

The interviewer is incredibly privileged! The stock market going up or down is not indicative of the health of the economy. It is not a savings account. Those corporate buybacks of stocks have nothing to do with creating jobs or creating new product lines. The “free” market does not make for an effective nor efficient capitalism. Look around at the homelessness, buddy. You didn’t suffer in 2008, and you’re getting bailed out now. Read Michael Lewis’s book The Fifth Risk for context as to what business does not do that government does.

lol race has always been debatable. I guess it's all about perspective. Some ppl see Obama as a Black man hence the label, " America's first Black president." Some see him as mixed/biracial which he technically is...& some don't give a damn either way. Personally, I see him as Black because that's how society sees him & treats him. They refer to him as Black & they call him the 1st Black U.S president, not a half-White president or Biracial president. Another reason I agree with anyone who considers him Black is because mixed & Biracial people were considered Black during slavery & segregation. Had Obama been born in 1841 instead of 1961, he would've been born a slave due to his Black father. During slavery, one White parent didn't save you from the Black experience. You still had to experience the same oppression as African-Americans with two Black parents. I'm mixed. I only have ONE Black parent. My other parent has White/fair skin & blue eyes. I acknowledge my mixed heritage but I still identify as Black because society still has a one drop rule lol. One drop of Black blood & you're considered Black. Btw, " Person of color" applies to Black people as well. Blacks, Hispanics, Asians & anyone who is non-White are called people of color so Obama isn't incorrect with his terminology. He has also called himself Black on many diferent occasions. In fact, in his book, he explained going through a self-esteem period where he ONLY IDENTIFIED as Black & didn't see himself as White & would even make fun of White people, then he expressed guilt because his mother is White. Point is...Obama is Black. He knows it. He says it & the world agrees. I've never heard someone refer to Obama as a White man but a Black man? Yeah, we hear that all the time now don't we? lol.
