@hiiipoweriii22113 жыл бұрын
People alway say Kendrick is a conscious backpack type rapper but he very much was around all the L.A. shit because most of his relatives like his brother & his friends he grew up with were all gang members & he seen all that but he just didn't get caught up with the street shit & like he said, he was a good kid in a mad city. That was the same direction Nipsey hussle wanted to go with his music but he got takin from us early & a lot of people think just because you are from L.A. that means you gotta be on the gangsta shit but there were a lot of conscious rappers from L.A. like Pharcyde that were conscious rappers & that's what Kendrick is doing. Ab Soul as well.

Len Walker Nah, if anything, TPAB is It Was Written. People wanted wanted GKMC part 2 with TPAB, instead they got an album filled with Jazz,Funk n Soul which threw them off. Same way people wanted Nas to still be on some underground boom bap stuff with It Was Written instead they got a glossy sound. DAMN could be Stillmatic I guess... Either way all 6 of those albums are great.

I get what he saying about being to grimy and to hard. There are still a lot of good hip-hop songs written every day that if they would’ve came out 20 years ago or 30 years ago they would’ve been a classic it instantly. But because they come out in the area of Drake, Nicki Minaj, that 69 kid with the tattoos all over his face, Lil Wayne, etc. today’s kids don’t really give a shit. What’s hot to them is whatever trendy, not whatever is really dope.
