Beautiful playing man....it touched my heart! We met for a very short time in a pub opposite Goldsmiths at the WSF in 2018 and had a crazy zen like conversation....I remember it well! Many blessings.

@@vlastislavmatousekphd5537 greetings. Hello sir, was it difficult to play shakuhachi with a basket around your head?
@108hz2 жыл бұрын
@@ermitanyo777 No difficult at all. It is much more something like playing in your own closed temple.

To be blind is to not be seen. Loneliness is deep. My soul cries for my heart, long broken, lost with my eyes. Is anyone there? Does it matter that I am here? To be blind is to not be heard, for my cries are too painful for others respond to. My flute. My flute is all I have. My flute is all there is of me. Listen to my Soul in my flute, listen to it, then walk away and pretend I am not here.

The komusō wore a straw basket called tengai (天蓋) on their heads to distance themselves from the world of reality.

Probably in some cases also a good way for former samurai to avoid reprisals! Along with a nice thick heavy shakuhachi, just in case.

Honkyoku is a zen-blowing meditation practice by Kosumō (monk of nothingness). Once taken the vow the Kosumō-s hide their identity to the world. This help them in loosing self-identity and I-ness and progress in their spirit path. Nothingness. But, not sure if this player is really Kosumō or just acting. Komusō sect is almost extinguished.

Thank you for sharing the magnificent culture of our Japanese brothers and sisters. Whether a real monk or not, this performance is for the public, so we can learn the arts and culture. Namaskars from the Philippines.

Amazing musical performance, sound recording is excellent but why the compulsively changing video editing? Thank you for uploading.
@Shyuthrosnaevin6 жыл бұрын
not compulsive... actually rather coordinated, camera angles. this is what is known as cinematography.
