I welcome you all to my channel Hodophile 🙏.After exploring the beautiful Dakhineswar kali temple then went to see the Howrah bridge & reached Howrah bridge on 5.51pm.
Today I will give you some information abt the strong Howrah bridge.
This is a steel bridge which is located over the Hooghly river.Earlier it was called as"New Howrah bridge then it was called as"Pontoon bridge".This Howrah bridge connects 2 twin cities just Howrah-Kolkata .Later in 1965 This Howrah bridge again renamed as"Rabindra setu".
Howrah bridge was made when so many ppl started to live in Kolkata.First a committee wasmade in 1855-1856.Again the Howrah bridge act was made in 1871 by Bengal govt.Finally Howrah bridge act was passed in 1926 then Mukherjee comittee was formed then the comittee members investigated the location of the bridge and submitted the proper location to the govt.
The construction work of the Howrah bridge was given to Braithwhite burn & jassop.
his Howrah bridge has no nuts & bolts.26500 tons of Tata steel was used in this Howrah bridge Tiscrom steels were used in this Howrah bridge.25 million bucks were used to make this bridge &this Howrah bridge is called as"Gateway to Kolkata".
1lac vehicles run everyday on this Howrah bridge &150000 pedestrian used this Howrah bridge everyday.This Howrah bridge is maintained by Kolkata Port trust.The construction work of the bridge was started in the year 1936 & completed in the year 1942 and it was opened to public in 1943.
This Howrah bridge is the world's biggest cantilever bridge.You can watch this Howrah bridge in many movies like-

I checked out this Howrah bridge for very first time and after exploring this Howrah bridge we reached out hotel on 6.30pm &did our dinner 8.30pm.
