I feel your struggle on the first graders being so low. We use Wonders also, and mine struggle to read. But, I am counting my blessings, because they came in not knowing letters and sounds. I had to teach mine letters and sounds before we could even start reading. Cheesecake Factory, YUM! That is my favorite.

Omg! I grew up in Sacramento and have fond memories of Fairy Tale Town! I won some kind of spelling homework contest in 4th grade and got to go with teacher and her husband and their baby and 2 other students to the Zoo and FTT and it was like a dream come true foe me!
