Best VM-24 carburetor setting for the old CI engine bullet.
Old Royal Enfield Standard 350's specifications - 346cc Single Cylinder, Air-cooled, 4-stroke, contact breaker, cast iron engine with 18 hp @ 5625 rpm and has 32 Nm @ 3000 rpm of torque with right side 4-speed gears and gives mileage of around 27 to 34 KMPL.

Hi. Why do lost mechanics keep the aux screw in the closed position? Will opening the aux screw make the fuel to run leaner and created an issue with the Piston as the fuel flow to the park plug will be much lesser. Because from what I know is that a fire burns hotter/at higher temperatures when more oxygen is provided (like a rocket stove). Am a novice and hence only clarifying my long pending doubt on it.

The cast iron bullet motorcycle engines are set to have slightly richer air- fuel mixture than usual for proper running. With the advent of the aux air inlet the mixture started becoming lean giving the rider the benefit of more mileage. But this has its own drawbacks such as the engine running at higher operating temperatures, and engine knocking or pre ignition. Higher engine temperatures reduces engine wear and tear life,also the oil cooling capacity is just adequate since these engines are having primitive spindle operated oil pumps(very inefficient). Engine knock is harmful for the engine(can destroy the piston). For these 2 reasons certain mechs completely close the aux screw and keep it closed for the bike to idle and run properly. If you work it out, these machines had the aux manifold added later on for extracting more mileage and reducing emissions. But if these engines should run happier the engine should be tuned to be slightly rich.

Bro my dad has a 1980s modal royal Enfield. Due to some issues we had to change old carburettor to new one, but after changing it the bike doesn't feel the same anymore. The thump is also not loud while idle and the exhaust sounds smooth. Not as loud as before. You know the reason why?

sir i purchased used electra 5speed 2007 model previous owner had removed the auxiliary and airfilter from side box,and uses air filter only from behind the carb box.now I've installed auxiliary srew and pipes but not installed air filter in the side box but still use the one on the box which is right behind the carb.sir will there be any problems with that please kindly suggest

Ideally the engine should keep running in idle position for a while but its not possible everytime. Its fine if we are switching off tue engine suddenly

@@sourabhbhalecreation I think u misunderstood d question - Lemme put it this way...When u throttle d accelerator d engine revs n once u leave d throttle it shld ideally keep running on idle wid d accelerator back to its original position But in my case d engine stops running after d throttle is released..So I need to keep reving unnecessarily to keep it running..My idling is a little on d higher side than normal. So plz do lemme knw d possible reasons fr d same..Tx

Honesty the aux screw doesn't make any difference to the overall performance of the bike. The bike will perform good even though if its jam

Though the aux screw is jammed, once you open it, it will start working. All you need to do it to find the highest RPM setting

hi sourabh, i got a '09 electra 4s bullet and when my carb was malfunctioning, the auxiliary screw was fixed and it did not move at all and still does not, only the RPM and mixture screw opens up. Do you think it is a default mechanism or a fault? because i showed it to some old bullet mechanics and they are not familiar with it. Kindly help.

Hi, Have few questions - hope you have some answers. * I have a 2002 CI Electra CDI ignition and will complete 20 years in May 2022... have not yet changed the carburetor since I bought... Off late not getting the desired setting and slower idling for some reason ... Could it be because the carburetor is too old now?...can only the Air Fuel screw be replaced as it is worn out now? I could see that your idling is also not that slow its pretty fast. * Secondly the rear Shock absorbers if need to change which one do you recommend- Gabriel or Armstrong? * Is there an update about scrapage policy for old bullets... hope I get an extension/renewal of RC in May 2002 for another 5 years? Hi bro, I think you should change the carburetor as 20 years is a big gap. For rear suspension, I would strongly recommend Armstrong. If you could remove it's sticker then it would be best.
