Hi Ian, thank you so much for your posts. I wanted to let you know that I used one of your videos at a presentation that I did this week to a retirement home that my mother lives at. I work for Boston Scientific on the computer chips that control pacemakers and neurostimulators and the retirement home asked me to do a presentation on implantable devices. When I played one of your videos through the Zoom call, there was a great applause when you had the device turned on and gasps when the device was turned off. I believe that your frank and honest conversations about your experiences with these stimulators perform a great social good in helping people with Parkinson's disease to understand the options that they have in medical care. Thank you again and take care.

Good day to you Ian. Did you consider the rechargeable version? I'm having my battery replaced sometime in March or April and am leaning toward the rechargeable which lasts 15 years versus 3 years (which is my experience.
@ianfrizell

Hi Rich I did consider a rechargeable battery but it's a double edged sword. Fewer operations for replacements, or the potential for upgrades to the neurostimulator as the technology evolves. My latest neurostimulator has a greater range of programmable settings than my previous one, including one that may assist with clarity of speech. I opted for the possibility of future technology upgrades... Cheers, Ian

Hey Ian....I had my DBS implanted about 2 years ago, and now have severe speech issues. What brand of DBS system do you have, mine is a Medtronic.
@ianfrizell

mine is also Medtronic. I think speech problems are a problem with DBS regardless of hardware manufacturer!

Yes, it's still inclined. I'm not convinced that it actually helps, but it's at no cost so it can stay that way for the time being!

Have you ever thought about fasting, Its a great way of reintroducing food back into your diet - thus analysing the effects of the food and drink on your body and mind. Take care Ian.

Thinking of you Ian. All the best my friend. Have you ever checked out Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of PD, and Dr. Robert Morse on YT as well?
@ianfrizell

hi David. I haven't been able to locate an Ayurvedic practitioner locally. I did try listening to Robert Morse, but his vlogs are so long that I can never find the bit of info I'm looking for...
