It's been a while since I have been able to update. Since everyone has been asking, here's a quick video about what happened with 23andMe. Thanks for being so patient and I'll see you guys for the next video.

I'm a lab technician. Try giving a saliva sample first thing in the morning before you brush your teeth or drink anything. It will have the most concentrated dna.

Karen Underwood I suspected it might be a barrier mouthwash I use every morning so I stopped the use for a week before giving it a go the second time but unfortunately still no success.

They did. I was waiting for the results after the second time when the deposit hit my account and I got an email about it. That's when I realized it failed again.

Karen Underwood I did mine TWICE first thing in the morning upon getting out of bed. No water or anything and NO DNA found!!! Now what do I do??

They told me my first kid didn't have enough saliva or a viable sample so that was from me first thing in the morning not brushing my teeth. This time I'm waiting for my results and I made sure that the first thing I did in the morning was brush my teeth wait half an hour over 30 minutes a little bit and then I did it again so I'm hoping that they get better results this time and I gave a little extra because of the fact that it was saying that I didn't have enough so I thought maybe I didn't give them enough so I'm thinking has crossed hoping it works this time hahaha.

I also failed two 23andMe tests! I complained and they are sending me a third one to try, hoping it finally works! I also tried AncestryDNA and had no problems at all! I’m not sure why 23andMe doesn’t work as well or as often as AncestryDNA.

I had not ate or drank for several hours, but failed. This time I didn't eat or drink for about 10 or so hours. Some of that time was night, some later in day. So.. just sent try again kit back. They will get it May 5th. 2023. Wondering if some that failed at 23andme, didn't have same problem elsewhere?

I dud Ancestry and didn't have any issues. I also tried two free kits and didn't have any issues. I haven't tried 23 and me yet.

Did you ever get your results back from Ancestry? I am anxious to hear because I just received my second FAILED from 23andMe today. To get my money back I had to sign a waiver saying I would not submit another test. I am wondering if trying another service is even worth my time.

Try My heritage DNA kit because they use a cheek swab to collect the DNA sample.

Same thing happened to me. I sent my second test off about 2 weeks ago. Maybe we are replicants? Amazon robots?

Same thing happened to my coworker and I. Super frustrating. Both of us sent in our second test and hoping to see some results!

Napalm Kitty just got word that my second sample was also a fail ☹️. Totally bummed but at least a refund is on the way. Hopefully AncestryDNA does better!

Happened to me years ago. I failed twice. Did it first thing in morning, with no teeth brush or drink. They sent my money back as well.

For ancestry.com I failed 3 times and gave up so I tried 23andme and it to also failed to collect my DNA. I don't know what to do anymore. Ugh!

Amy Yang the my heritage DNA kit collects cotton swab samples inside your cheek you should try that

Try no drinking, kissing, smoking, medicating, eating and mouthwash or brush your teeth for a hour. I got my result probably failed and got my result from my last name instead of DNA test as I have an acid reflex happened just before I spit inside the tube. I didn't wanted wait another hour even those it said wait 30 minutes and I wanted to mail it ASAP on Monday morning.

At what stage does it fail on 23andme? Mine is in computing stage(last stage).

Mine usually failed in the extraction stage. They're never able to extract enough DNA.

I am not 100% sure but, I think that I may have failed the test as well. They say that they are retesting my saliva. Do you know how long that takes? My husband sent it in at the same time and he got his results over a week ago.

Wow, lucky him! All I know is if you fail the second one, then they'll automatically refund your money and calls it quits. I've just ordered a kit from Ancestry instead so I'll make a video when I get that package. Good luck!

Similar story with me but Myheritage could do it, when 23andme couldn't do it twice. I'd suggest try Myheritage cotton swabs on your cheeks. That's better. It worked out for me! It's also half the price of 23andme!

Try a DNA kit which uses a swab of your cheeks rather than saliva, such as FamilyTreeDNA. I think maybe MyHeritage as well.
