Good tips by Fahmi! Can be useful for both new and veteran riders.

Did fahmi mentioned to check for oil leaks? When I checked out a new bike, I will see if there is any puddle of oil. After switching on the engine, let it rest and check for oil leak again. I use this as bargaining tool as oil leaks is just a change of gasket or o-ring. This is my take on buying used bikes from both shop and direct owner. Buying from shop: 1) shop can never give a proper history of the bike. About 70% of the time, the story is fabricated. So have to properly check. 2) if they give warranty, make sure it's in black and white. Also ask what they cover. They are not obligated to replace parts. 3) don't trust odometer. These can be replaced / tampered see the condition of the bike i.e amount of dust / rust. Buying from direct owner: 1) see the listing. If they put "always pump v-power" the owners knowledge not that good. No offense ah😅 2)talk to the person, see what they use the bike for. It will give a good judgement on how mechanically sympathetic the owner is. 3) same as above point 3 4) always nego. Expect the bike to not be in good condition and go for major service after buying over. Plus carousel prices for some bikes don't make sense. If not willing to nego, can always walk away. 5) turning up to view the bike shows that you are 70% ready to buy over the bike. Bring cash most of the times I get good deal dealing on the same day or the day after. Got many more points ah... But if I list everything here, I cannot get good deal already 🤣

Hi bro can u give me some suggestions on whats a good price for a class 2b bike i am currently eyeing at a few but i have no idea whats a good price range and how to negotiate with them😅

Hahaha. Good tips!! Whatever it is, I personally feel that every seller out there wants to earn from their sale, and every buyer wants a good deal. Can't be 100% foolproof. Use judgement and bring a experienced rider with you. If too particular, don't even need to consider used bike already.

@@mittens7884 to give you a good price is abit difficult cos depends on what model etc. To me I would rather not buy cos the price is ridiculous. With that said, if you really need to get a used bike a good gauge is to go to the bike shop and look for similar models with the same number of Coe left I expect to pay 500-1000 lesser from listed price in carousel, reason being need to send it for checks. Naked bikes are generally cheaper compared to sports bike. The chances of 2b bike dropping is high, so if you can spot it's been drop, can nego to lower the price 🤐. If you ask me, I wouldn't pay more than $5000 for a bike with 4-5 years Coe left in this current market.

@@tambakoverlanders agree. In the end, it boils down to how much you are willing to pay. So far I've got better experience buying from owner as most are honest. I sell my bikes through carousel, I see the person also, if the guy is a nice guy, I don't mind dropping the price😅. I think that's why I cannot work at bike shops🤣. To make most return, don't put accessories 🤐

I still prefer buying from direct owner as I can get more info of the bike's maintenance history etc etc nowadays if u look at carousell most of the sellers do list down what they have done another point is direct owners will return you back the original parts example like faring, exhaust, mirrors etc etc,so when time for annual inspections no need to worry,I don't think bike shop will return the original parts or they don't have because ex owner never give lastly for class 2 bikes very high chance direct owner won't let u test ride,by the way I also just bought my class 2 bike direct from owner thru carousell,no issue😎👍

Now there's more and more new bike shop, ask around first about the bike shop financing or check the quotation they offer, interest rates how much and etc, most importantly is the shop background history (good or bad). Check for frame cracks if possible, this will be a sad case if anyone bought a bike with a broken frame (Can Scrap already). For engine wise, some bike shop want to get the sales moving, they'll just say engine all ok, Switch the bike on for you, let you her the engine sound OK, matter of fact I don't know if it's true anot (legend says that) - engine sound OK is because they top up the engine oil more than usual or use thick engine oil to dampened the knocking sound of the engine. (Old Meta) My 2 cents is, you can do the external checks and see the obvious tell tale signs but If someone want to buy 2nd hand bikes he/she have to face the wear and tear definitely, that's what you'll sign up for 👍 So if he/she purchase the bike, put aside some spare cash about $1K to standby for wear and tear in the few months down the road of riding. Good video, thanks for sharing the knowledge & put it into physical demonstration 👍 A+ effort. Keep it up guys

My experience when i bought my super4 from a shop Fuel cap wasnt secured. Luckily i spotted it before i rode from the shop. They took another bikes fuel cap and put back on mine, saying thats the original. Fuel sensor wasnt working well, and they told me that cant be fixed, must replace whole sensor not covered in warranty. 1 week later, engine oil leaking from engine, rear brakes not working properly, dashboard lights not working properly, tyre went flat due to bad air valve All same answer, not covered in warranty. Wanted to ask for refund, but because i traded in my previous bike as downpayment, it would take weeks for everything to be sorted out again and i decided fuck it, ill fix everything on my own. This lemon law crap wont help you overcome all the inconveniences because at the end of the day there isnt much the law does to protect buyers when the vehicle is used. They'll tell you all kind of excuses to mask cheating/fraud.
