VLOG #98: My honest opinion on Tangier, Morocco

It was my last day in Africa. What an incredible trip full of so many beautiful sunsets and views and just as many emotions ranging from low to high. At the end of the video I give my honest thoughts on my visit to Africa and don't hold back. If you need assurance or information, this is the video for you. Keep in mind this opinion is formed off of five days of staying in the center of Tangier, Morocco, and is not an opinion or summarization of the entire continent or even region nor country. This is simply a way to share how I felt during my time in one specific area and provide insight to others consideirng traveling. I adored the beautiful city and am looking forward to exploring more of Morocco and more of the continent. Thanks for tuning in.

Africa, just like Asia and Europe, is a continent. 😊 Next time, please be more specific in the title and mention which country exactly you are referring to. .Morocco, along with other African countries, is a unified nation with a distinct culture and heritage, closely tied to Iberia (Al-Andalus). It's important to recognize that Morocco, a mediterranean North African country, only represents itself and should not be viewed as a representation of the entire African continent. To truly understand Morocco, it is crucial to appreciate its unique context. This same mindset can be applied to other countries in Africa, as it helps to break stereotypes and allows outsiders to see and unlearn misconceptions about this diverse continent. This idea of Africa as an ethnostate (by some people) needs to go.

Hey! I’m sorry that the video may have upset you but I think you misunderstood some of it. Not once did I degrade Africa, many times I praised how much I loved my time there. The idea of a thumbnail is to draw attention and frankly Morocco is in Africa so it is technically not an incorrect statement but I can see how it may have been seen as misleading. And you’re right I have no significance in terms of this video, but I made it because I explored the beautiful country of Morocco and I wanted to share my experience and you were the one who clicked on the video. I’m sorry if you don’t agree with things I said, I only wish to please people with my content and share my experiences as I learn about the world. Moving forward I will be sure to be better and more clear though, thank you for the input!

If you are not real Africa what are you? Southern Spain? And if so why are Moroccans losing their lives trying to get to Europe? There is an immense amount of diversity in Africa. Kenya, Seychelles, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, and Rwanda are all "real Africa" and all comparable to Morrocco. Get a passport and get over yourself.

A unified country instead of recognizing it as a vast continent? The fact remains that Morocco is a North African, Mediterranean country with a unique culture and heritage, closely tied to Iberia (Al-Andalus). This should not come as a shock, given the distance of less than 8 miles between them. So once again, Morocco is Morocco, not just a representation of the entire continent of Africa. To truly understand Morocco, it is important to view it in its own context. The same mindset can be applied to other countries in Africa, as it is the only way to break stereotypes and help outsiders see and unlearn everything they have been taught about this diverse continent.
