with the canon vixia hf200, you have to do a white balance check before you film. that may be why the lighting wasnt working out for you with that camera.

yeah, i love the depth of field on your current vids! lol...i wish i waited too, my dslr doesnt have video coz i got mine last 2009 and now i cant afford to replace it yet

Full-time autofocus may not be available with your dSLR but some Nikon cameras i.e. D3100 have this feature. Also, the lens plays a bigger part in image quality (light intake, etc.) than the camera body. If you're going to invest anywhere, do so in the glass!

if youre having problem loading those dslr captured videos you can always resize it to reduce the file size so it will load faster on your computer. you dont need to buy a new pc bcoz of it. and oh, it wud not change its hd quality or lightning effects if thats your concern. ;)
