Got a KLR650, and a Ruckus. I enjoy both, and both have their places. I do ride both to work, and both are enjoyable. I do ride backroads as I can on the ruck so as to not annoy the cagers as much. Everyone who has ridden the Ruckus has said how much fun it is. I've always wanted a ruckus as soon as I saw one many moons ago. Got the green and tan in January. Coming up on 600 miles, and have plans to put many more.

Fell in love with the Ruckus & fuel efficiency but like the little more speed you get on a Navi along with space for a passenger. Now I can’t decide.

Nice Video. I agree with your view on small bore bikes, but I would say the smallest bore that is safe in the area you live. I live in San Diego, and want to get a bike that is small, light, efficient and safe as a commuter and for non-highway free rides. Since I live in San Diego, about 125cc is the smallest bore I could get and feel safe using it as my only vehicle. I think 150cc is my personal sweet spot, and I was debating between the Honda Grom and Honda ADV 160. When I come back to the states, I’m pretty sure I’m going to go for the ADV 160, since a scooter is just too practical to ignore, compared to a motorcycle, and it fits my needs of non-highway driving, sometimes with my girlfriend on the back. We are both pretty light, me 5’6”, 125 lbs, and her about 4’11”. I love that without any modifications, it would be great for groceries, going to the beach, park and just nice drives along the coast or winding back roads near my place. I like that it can go up to 70, and is highway legal, so I can hop in for a few exits if necessary, and just have enough buffer on non-highway roads so I don’t feel like I’m stressing the engine at 45. At about 300lbs, it’s a bit heavier than I’d like, and bulkier as well, but considering my options - I think it’s the best I can get as an only vehicle to serve all my purposes as safely as possible, with a little bit of slow joy riding as well. I can tell you one thing, 160cc is about as high as I would ever need, and I would definitely never go over 200. I value light and nimble far more than power, up to a certain point. I start to lose more than I gain above 160cc. Thanks for your video - I’ll check out your other ones!

Really enjoy your channel. I was interested in a low cost backup for my 24 year old car and just messing around on back roads. I figured a cheap Chinese 49cc scooter would fit the bill, but the pre-covid $600 price tag had gone up to over $1000. The motorcycle licence requirement also had been reinstated in my state, and some additional $$$ would be required for insurance, road test, and other RMV fees. It was now a much bigger investment. At the same time, many, many people online complained of cheap build quality, constant maintenance and difficulty getting service for these Chinese built bikes. A work friend recommended Honda Ruckus, but the $2400 price tag (at the time) seemed too high. My finances improved and I heard about the Honda Navi coming out. I checked them out at a local dealership (the Navi seemed nice), but saw a couple of Honda CT125s there. The CT looked far more rugged, utilitarian, and more full sized. I ended up buying the CT as my first bike and I love it for exploring. I bought a Navi this year because, hey, the value of my dollars is evaporating and the price was still $1807++. I was pleasantly surprised by the Navi: very peppy, great in traffic, and just a blast to ride! Suspension is not the best, but it's there. On a smooth road, I prefer the Navi. Off road and long distance, the Ct125 is great. Looking forward to some Navi content on you channel!

Hey Dan, When I view you riding the Ruckus on your country roads, it looks like you're going 50... when your only going around 30. This must be because you are very low to the ground and the sense speed is greater even though your going relatively slow. This seems to be what you enjoy... Slow speed thrills at a relaxing pace. I think that is what the attraction is for the Ruckus. And in order to get that setup, you had to go with the lower seat and floor peg extensions. It's a kind of sweet spot of enjoyment. But you really need the low traffic countryside to go with it in order to make that work.🤔 Gord

I was thinking the same thing. When I’m editing the footage it does seem I’m going much faster. I do enjoy the relaxing slower speed of the Ruckus, but on the other hand I love the faster speeds of the Xmax.

@@slowridersmotovlog201 I Guess it depends what frame of mind you are in at the time. There are guys out there that like to take these smaller bore (125-200cc) machines cross country. But when you work them that hard, they tend to break down due to heat over many hours day after day. Nevertheless, the engine/transmission of Honda's does better than the rest in that class. When you hit the 300cc class scooters both Vespa, Yamaha, Honda can all make it without any major breakdowns. We're talking 3,000-4,000 mile runs over a week's period, doing around 500 miles a day. Sometimes in 90°+ heat. It's really hard on them and starting out on fresh oil and changing the oil at 1500 miles really helps prevent premature wear under those conditions. The CVT belt drive in the Vespa's and Yamaha's seems to be a bit better than the Honda for some reason. This became apparent in last year's Scooter Cannonball Run. Quasimodtard's 200cc Honda scooter had multiple CVT failures. You study those KZbin videos and you will find out which makes and models to stay away from. But the Vespa was rock solid... Gord Gord

Just bought a RE Hunter 350 downsizing from a Honda Valkyrie, it is just so much more fun on country roads at 45 mph. I thought about a scooter but they are just too dangerous even on country roads. Drivers have no patience for slow riders, but slow riding is where it is at.

Nice video, I totally agree there is just something fun and relaxing about riding a small bore bike. I have Road King Classic, a 250 rebel and as of last week a Navi. I must say I am really enjoying the navi. Even when I am on the Road King I am on back roads doing 35-40 mph so why deal with the heavy weight and cost of maintenance on the big bike when I can get the same enjoyment on the navi. The one thing I love about it is how easy it is to maneuver. I am only 5'6 and if I have to stop and turn the Road King around in the middle of the road for some reason, its a workout but the navi or the rebel its a breeze. Been following your channel for a while now keep up the good videos. If your ever in the West Ky area and have the ruckus with you shoot me an email I will take through some of our good backroads. We have a National park known as Land Between The Lakes that is full of great roads to ride on. I have had a channel for a little while but never really have been committed to it. I hope to change that and be putting up some navi videos very soon.

Just bought my ruckus April 12th. Just hit 400 miles, it’s my ride to work I work 3 blocks from job 1, 7 miles to job 2. It’s definitely therapeutic but now I have the need for speed. Maybe a grom in the future after I take a motorcycle class. I’d like to ride with my dad one time before it’s too late.

I have a Kymko Like 150i and I find it the most fun of my four motorcycles. I really like going to Winco on it and parking right in front of the store. Nobody is offended by a scooter. You can park them on the curb and nobody cares. Having lived in North Carolina with many rural roads around I loved to take it for an hour ride to clear my mind. Best PTSD treatment ever. But now I am in Northern California sadly! You need to be able to get on a freeway once in a while to get where you want to go. So a 250cc is really the minimum for that. I think the X-max might be a good fit for me now. Forgot to mention the Kymko also has dual channel ABS! I like the Suzuki Burgman 400 but it is expensive.

Iam thinking about getting the navi for my mom ,she just started riding the ruckus and she's complaining its to slow lol, but i honestly think the navi would be better for her than the ruckus. When you can get almost 200 mpg on a small bike a E-bike does not make any sense. The answer to the energy crisis is not ev's, it is small displacement motorcycles in good weather. Small bikes have much less impact on the environment than an ev that the battery has to replaced in 5 years, and gets dumped in the environment.
