Staycation > destination vacation, always. I really need to pick up some Colson Whitehead! I still haven't read any of his and he's been on my radar for too long.

Totally get that desire to just sit and be at home when you have the space - also totally get that feeling that you are missing out. It’s a juggle that one - I’ve just taken to locking adventures in ahead of time because I know in the moment I will always choose books and bed. Loved spending the first days of the year reading with you. My fingers are crossed that your library holds don’t all come in at once 😬

I'm so glad you brought up how you're enjoying The Crook Manifesto, because I read Harlem Shuffle late last year and adored it. This sealed the deal to read the next.

Great vlog! I am also trying to watch more films this year. I love film, but it has gotten a little pushed to the wayside. If you like artsy films, I would recommend Three Colors: Blue and The Double Lives of Veronique by director Krzysztof Kieslowski. I also recently watched Past Lives and loved it. For weird fiction, have you read Mona by Pola Oloixarc? It’s about a writer attending a conference and things go awry. Also Earthlings by Sayake Murata-but maybe look up cws for that one. It’s heavy at times.

Thank you for being my cooking companion today. And ooh love this haul. I felt ok about small things like these, but am being blown away (in a quiet way, shes a quiet writer) by her short story collection antartica! I mean im halfway through and it can crash and burn in the second half, but the first half has been fun! curious to hear your thoughts on her. also need to finally make my way to whitehead. sounds dope

When I was in highschool I watched a film called The Magdalene Sisters. The film was based on three true stories of women who managed to escape the Magdalene laundry in the 1970s. The worst thing for me was when I found out that the last laundry closed in the mid-1990s. If you are looking for a peculiar film to watch I highly recommend the most recent film by Yorgos Lathimos' called Poor things. It is very weird but also very funny.
@r.enee.morris9 ай бұрын
Well this seems fitting and a must watch. I did some research and discovered there was a Magdalene laundry in Auckland until the 80s. Sooooo wild.

Also planning to see Poor things this week! 😉
@aleksismil9 ай бұрын
@@r.enee.morris That is fu**"ing wild. That film is not easy. Just prepare yourself mentally. There's a lot of abuse. Poor things is brilliant. I laughed a lot.

Thank you. I wonder if people are over seeing me walk my dog, go to the library and buy new books. But as long as there’s one watcher having a good time I will keep making em. Lote might be the answer to my kind of weird????
