Oh my goodness Katie this was so lovely to watch and listen to. I totally get what you mean about coming off as confident because you teach/perform but not really being so on the inside. And I loved that you loved higher ground! I should join your book club sometime soon, it sounds like it is full of good company ❤️

I've read The Unbearable Lightness of Being and loved it so much. There is something about his writing that is undescribably true and visceral and charming and sexy etc etc.... After a year, I then picked up The Joke and I loved it even more.... Reading his books make you experience the setting so much, in these cases, the Czech... Been thinking of Immortality to pick up next.

Immortality is definitely worth a read. It’s mostly set in Paris and feels very much like it is. Lots of deep thinking in that book!

Loved hearing all your thoughts in this, Katie! Is your book club open to non-bookstagram/booktube creators? Totally understandable if not...just didn't know if I missed the info on how to join or if it was a private group

avoiding posting the link to the book club publicly as i want to keep it small enough that everyone can have conversation without it being too big/busy. but if you follow me on instagram, feel free to drop me a message about it ✨

You loved Higher Ground even more than the Germans did. 😉 No, seriously, it has been a success over here, commercially and critically, but it also polarised. I was somewhere in between with my opinion. I liked it, but didn't love it. Hurricane Season is great, but I liked Paradais even more. Bluets is one of my favourite books! And Blue Nights is great. Anaïs Nin, also wonderful. Book clubs are the best.

higher ground was just so brutally honest at depicting the disparities so many people just refuse to acknowledge - anke gave me shivers with her boldness!!! paradais is also on my list ✨bluets is definitely a firm favourite for me now, so beautiful x
