Thank you for being honest and real!! I can so relate. You can be happy, positive, and love your life but still get lonely occasionally if you're alone. I sooo get that!! I just moved to Chicago last month with an amazing apartment and new job (on top of being close so no more long distance to my boyfriend) with so many new people. I love every day but its been a lot all at once and sometimes I get lonely. Your videos are always the best!!

I get what you say about missing friends…I graduated from HS in 2006 and have struggled to find a ‘peer group’ of folks to be involved with during the intervening years (bear in mind I was the ‘kid everyone knew’ and struggle with feeling like the ‘odd man out’ in terms of the folks I find myself amongst and it has had me struggling with not only loneliness, but depression/anxiety as well (and COVID hasn’t done it any favors, either)…

Gretchen thank you so much for being open and vulnerable with us, and I can totally relate to you with being alone all of the time and feeling lonely at times. I live with my bf but we are on completely opposite schedules so we really only see each other when he comes home from work and I'm already in bed 1/2 asleep. My job is also pretty lonely bc I don't have "coworkers" and am always travelling to different schools within my area so I don't really get much socialization at work (much like yourself). As adults it is also really hard to always be in contact with your friends because many of them don't live in the same city as you anymore, or, if they do - then they're busy with their own lives too. Not to mention the fact that covid has made going out/having people over and doing things with friends a lot harder and more complicated over the last couple of years (at least here in Ontario 🙃). It makes me miss my younger days when I was always with my friends and lived at home and rarely felt alone - even though I love my life and am so grateful for what I have now. It is comforting to know that I am not the only one feeling this way and I think that it is very normal. TV and movies sell us on this idea that in your 20s you will have this big group of girlfriends that hangout and do everything together but the reality is that most times we are all too busy working on ourselves, our relationships and/or our careers. What always makes me feel better when I am lonely is calling or FaceTiming a friend and being reminded of how special the relationships in my life are, even if they are long distance. ❤

girl... this lifestyle is definitely not for you and makes you really unhappy :( and trust me it will get worse over time... I was in the same situation than you this summer, crying everyday... until I realized I had to make a big change to get happy - for me.. I broke up with my ex and moved back to my favorite city with all my friends. It was heart breaking because I had strong feelings for him - but I don't regret my decision at all. At first it was horrible, but now I am so proud I did it.
