I’ve been watching you since you started medical school and the fact that you’re actually in the hospitals now is amazing!! I’m so proud :) I’m a paramedic student in Ontario! I just have to finish 3 months of riding with a service until I can graduate! Unfortunately Covid is super bad here so no service is letting students get the much needed experience right now! Just a waiting game until I get in there. I have been thinking a lot of how I will be handling death and although I have already had my first death in the clinical setting in the ER. I think it will be much different when I am in someone house, surrounded by all their things and the constant reminders of the life that they just had. Any tips ? I’m sure you’ve dealt with quite a bit of death already. I know what I’ve signed up for and I’ve prepared for it I am just curious if there is anything you do specifically to help stay detached :)

@@joystudy7907 now im still in school and am not at the point of my life of having a job rn but yes i do wanna be a general surgeon and i think of it as getting the opportunity to experience surgery...going through all that learning all the interesting things about it, if you are worried about the work hours then try and look for a less houred work catagory in medicine there are many like cardiology and etc, but if your really passionate about being a general surgeon then do it! You are going to go through rotation anyways and there migjt be weeks that u have to work extra hard in but trust me it will be worth it.

I did that everytime when i am about to make decision and study!! i asked myself "How do i want to live in my 60s and 70s? Am i willing to work this job for 30 yrs? Will i still be happy if i did this? Will i be excited as i am rn, where i am at the age of resigning?" Happiness is the most imp, and also giving time for yourself. And thats how i make decisions.
