Love the new coop. Make sure you cover up the small opening by the wheels. It didn't appear to have hardware cloth across it. ❤

Hey, if you didn't throw the crackling away; being too salty can be a good thing. You can use it in recipes. Crackling corn bread, season corn, potatos, an other veggies. I can think of many uses. You may like diffrent preparations for different uses.

I live in Kansas. I SHOULD be able to find suet, but haven’t yet lol. I ordered a 7 pound bucket from Amazon of organic tallow. I’ve made moisturizer and love it! Still in the process of finding a farmer where I can buy from. I also live in town and have a pretty large garden and chickens. Love being inspired by you. 🌻💕

That coop is adorable! Attractive and functional! I wish I could have feathery friends. Our city has restrictions so unless you have a huge yard, chickens etc. are a no go. I’ll live vicariously through you.

Check with other people in your area to see if there is an unused lot where all of you can keep a community chicken flock.

Interesting, you have a lot going on. I’ve never added salt to my tallow when rendering. Sometimes I add a little when making schmatlz from chicken fat.

Will the Quail require time to acclimate to the cold? I was thinking that even though they are cold hardy, that the very large change in temperature will still be a shock to them and I read that Quail grow thicker feathers in Fall to help them survive Winter.
