I was in the same situation last year when I applied for the UKFPO. I took OET like three times, the highest score in writing was 390. I didn't like IELTS either, but I had to take it as the deadline was approaching and it was faster to get a place and results in IELTs. It was also cheaper. I only had two weeks left until the deadline, so what I ended up doing was booking several IELTs, day after day, as I felt that the writing score depended a lot on luck. I felt it was easier to get 7.5 in IELTs writing than 400 in OET. I got 7.5 twice in writing of IELTs (once in academic and once in general), but in one of them my speaking score was 7, so I had to take the test again. I finally got 7.5 in Ielts writing and other domains, after three attempts of IELTs. I followed the KZbin channel IELTs advantage. My advice is to give the academic IELTs try. Don't rely on the OET, especially since they take a while to issue the results. Hope this gives you some hope. All the best!

Hey! I know exactly how you feel. I've been wanting to get into the FP for the past year and have given the English exams multiple times but never ended up getting the required score in writing. In my opinion these tests are quite subjective and results can vary based on different factors, including luck. It's painful and it absolutely sucks. I sort of started to shift my career plans because I've spent way too much money, time and effort on these exams. But you should hang in there! Give it another go, you can do this! And regardless of what happens, you'll always be a doctor. Don't let these English exams define your capabilities as a healthcare professional. Good luck!
