I gained my professional licence almost 2 years ago but it lapsed due to Covid and the lack of commercial work - well worth studying and understanding all the rules and regs in your own county to avoid any unintended or accidental damage or accidents .

That’s very true Andrew it’s good to keep on top of the rules and changes since they are changing so fast 😀

What gets me in Australia is that looking at Airmap, there are special use zones around air force bases that extend for hundreds of kilometres. Wanna fly a drone in Boggabilla, NSW? (A place in the middle of nowhere). Well, their are local airstrips to watch out for, and oh the special use zone for RAAF Base Amberley, near Ipswitch, Qld, 300km away.

It’s crazy isn’t it

I still need to get my commercial license, but I've been having a blast flying mine and getting some time in. I definitely understand some of the restrictions, but it does get to be a bit much at times.

They are so much fun and same but a lot of places around me have like no people living there

Geez, it's bad for drone pilots, but not that bad! You can generally fly in those areas with the light-orange shading. They typically represent proximity to uncontrolled landing fields or helicopter pads. If you read the description on the app (bottom of the screen), it'll tell you what you need to be aware of. e.g. "Safely land if there are aircraft flying in the area"

Very informative video Jeremy! I've been thinking of buying a drone lately as I think it would add a different element to my vlogs, especially here in flat Florida. But not sure it is worth it with all of the restrictions. Doesn't look like you have too many options there in the Melbourne area. Do the restrictions relax a bit as you travel outside of the big city? Thanks for the video mate, really appreciate hearing about how drone laws work over there. Have a great weekend, stay safe!

Hey mate my understanding of those areas are that your less than 249g drone can be flown in the "!" Zone as you're rec. Please correct me if I'm wrong as my areas look exactly like that too.
@JordanPritchard3 жыл бұрын
I believe light weight drones can be flown in those zones :)

Great Vlog, Thanks Jordan, you have confirmed my thinking about Drones, the areas in NZ where drones are banned or require permission are huge. As such I haven't bought one yet and i would prefer to invest in other stuff. Thanks Again
@JordanPritchard4 жыл бұрын
Are they?? I never even realised there is a lot of banned areas in NZ
