Chrono Trigger is the one game that I feel is truly “missing”. I understand you gotta draw the line somewhere, but if there’s a game that could justify bumping from 21 to 22 games, it’s Chrono Trigger. I mean, c’mon... it’s Chrono Trigger. Imagine opening your new SNES Classic Mini up on Christmas, plugging it in, and firing up Chrono Trigger. Sorry children of the world, you’re gonna have to hack that bad boy first!

I think it has issues with the license since more people were involved and Nintendo might not have the 100% rights to the game (music, drawing etc), Secret of Mana and FF3 are there they are great too!

I am waiting to find one of the SNES mini's myself. I also already had it thought out to put around 100 games on the system. Honestly if you put too many games on the thing I might track of what to play and or lose the mood to play in general. Sort of the case I have dealt with even having roms files on a PC, too much of something isn't necessarily a good thing at times.

Hakchi comes with a built in save state manger so you can back up saves on your computer. Comes in handy for space management. I'm running 350+ games from various consoles and left about 20 megs free for save states but only use those as needed. Game saves themselves seem to only take up a handful of KBs.

Hakchi has come a long way in the 3 years since you did this video. Not only do you still have the USB-Host method, but there's now an SD storage addon (that recently went open-source) and with Hakchi splitting titles by folders, it makes it easier for the menu to process all the new titles. I currently have over 2,200 titles on mine, separated by system, and then alphabetically and have no issues thus far.

Super street fighter 2 worked fine for me. The copy of sf alpha 2 I found would not work however. I chose about 40 total games because I didn't feel like scrolling past so so games all day. Also my hakchi gave me the option to download a different emulator to try and make sf alpha 2 (and some others like earthworm jim 2) work as they were listed as incompatible during the hacking process.

I removed almost half of the official games and added my favorite snes, nes, gba, and game boy/color games that I still love to play today. I thought about adding Genesis games, but decided to stick to Nintendo systems only. The overall total is 38 games.
@lordmaximus780

I've limited mine to 100 of my favourite games on the SNES (incliding the original 21). This should leave enough storage for saves, and doesn't compromise the system too much - also means the games all appear in one folder, anymore and it would require a second folder. Only issue is shutting the system down in the game selection menu, it brings up an error, but toggling the on/off switch resolves that, or just switch system off while in a game closes down normally.

Croooow!!! I wouldn’t really know anything about nostalgia when it comes to the SNES, as I was born at the end of the 90’s and by the time I was old enough to function it was a thing of the past. I’m sure a lot of the games are alright, they just definitely aren’t for me.

@@GasparMoT: Using RetroArch, you can put N64, Playstation (1 and 2) & other contemporary consoles prior to the 360 & PS3 on the SNES Classic, but it is not guaranteed that they'll work well with these more advanced games with higher graphics above SNES' 16-bit, as N64 runs 64-bit of course & PSX runs 32-bit.

I have 212, with room for save files. I keep the originals on the home screen, rest sorted in folders. Around 50 megs open for saving, which is plenty for me, cause I usually only keep a single save state for a game, and not all games I use save states.

I have 250 games on mine. No issues. Still have over 50mb free left. I have saved a lot of games. I have extracted the saves. They are kilobytes not megabytes. The new Hakchi puts aside some data for saves I believe, and also compresses the art and games.

I got like 115 games, everything is perfect so far. The good thing is some games don't need suspend point at all because they have internally the save feature (originally battery on the cartridge) DK, Mario world, Kirby, Super Tetris 2, super punch out, and a long etc so I'm assuming those ones take little space. I always use when needed one or maximum 2 suspend points, and after a while I keep only the most recent. I like to play the game in old style, only saving in the password screen and nothing else, even if I have to play again all the level, the same goes for the internal saves, maybe not as precise as a suspend point but old style. 😋 So don't over use suspend points and probably there's not going to be any problem. And thanks to hakchi, my games look great with the option to disable the scaliness in the CRT filter, because I wasn't happy with the image of perfect pixels or the scanlines of the inbuilt CRT filter, but without scaliness it looks just like my CRT TV, PERFECT! I'm so happy with that option, I hate scanlines! And never saw those on my old TV's... Well maybe in the first color TV'S

There's a solution to the limit of games and save states, another youtuber used a usb adapter, it has a micro USB in and out port as well as a USB A port so he can play roms from an external USB drive. I would recommend using a 16GB USB stick rather than 32GB or higher since that would be overkill unless you plan to fully mod it to play roms from other consoles.

Thank you for sharing. I only planned on doing the process once with a small handful of good games but that came up to 77 games. So im going to reduce that to only like really really good games i abaoutely must add.

Croooow!!! ---- IS it possible to scrap the base 21 games and have it only be custom added games? Also. Is it possible to put other systems on it like you could the NES classic? I've seen people putting Sega Genesis ROMs on it and running them. I guess using Retro Arch?

So why is the NES classic not suffering from that limitation? Do the saves stages have their own memory chip on that?

I just gotta comment about ROM sizes... he claims that on average SNES games are 1 meg which is not true at all, I'd say on average it's 2 megs (with many of the great games for the system between 3-4 megs)... however, using Hakchi2 allows you to compress each ROM which reduces the ROM size between 0.5-1.3 megs... and the 21 games already on the system have been automatically compressed by a larger amount... yeah, it's a bit complicated. I was planning to add 79 games (all SNES/Super Famicom), I have to also add RetroArch to play 8 of them... I also want to remove a few of the original 21 games, and replace them with hacked versions ('reduced slowdown' for Super Ghouls N Ghosts AND 'better scrolling' for Secret Of Mana... for example)... I want to do this while also having 1 save state per game, but I'm not sure it's possible... but since many of the games have a save mechanism, some games won't need save states but I'm not sure if in-game saves cost memory, and if so how much??... yeah, more complications.

Nintendo really missed out with their mini consoles. It seems like they could have made a LOT of money if they'd sold cartridges with game packs on them. They could piecemeal out a collection of hundreds of the best games, 20 games to a cartridge.

They want people to sub to switch online. The clasix systems are a teaser. They will eventually release their collections (over time) to the sub service. Just my opinion. They should have mad these online capable(when hooked to PC) and had a store on their website. Think about it a dollar a game. We would buy so many that cheap.

Yeah i dont own snes classic but like you said, hacked wii's are the way to go, i have about 300 snes roms and about 200 megadrive roms + many other systems and and the only game that dosent work is Street fighter vs x-men (snes). Snes9x, Genplus, Fc.... (nes emu "cant remember name") works so well. And to anyone who has a wii and hasn't hacked it "google letterbomb " i dont know how hard hatachi is, but i i'd say letterbombs easier not sure but id say its easier, until you want to play gcn games on usbloader and then its diomios and custom Loaders. But playing roms piss easy. Also google Microwave sam wii its a file with all the apps and drivers you need to run the wii with no problems :)
