Like I said a while back, get exercise and now does your doctor. You said you didn't like going anywhere if there was no destination or it was pointless. But there is a destination and it isn't pointless. The destination is to get you tired and healthier. It helps me.

Regarding your driving position & back, left shoulder pain, I get the same & it's derived from tensing while driving because you are concentrating. Having an automatic didn't cure it for me, I have to consciously condition myself to relax my shoulders while driving. This eases but didn't cure the discomfort, it's only really an issue on long journeys. I suffer from insomnia, having a dog to look after forced me to maintain 'some' sort of regime as he needs feeding at set times & created a motivation. I find reading or watching dry documentaries in the evening helps me get to sleep initially, although I often wake up again two hours later & cannot sleep again. Tackling depression, I disagree with the commentator below, for me this has gotten better with age as I've developed techniques to fight back. I created lots of little interests like having lunch in different coffee shops, visiting museums in different towns etc & ticking them off a list. This created a sense of minor accomplishment & gave me a physical destination. Overtime the list & those ticked off became substantial & I impressed myself. KZbin vlogs might be helping you? The guy below is right that they are incremental steps, but it accumulates to something more concrete.

I have insomnia too, but only during the winter months. Even the quality of my sleep is poor.

Have you tried melatonin? It got my sleep back on track pretty quickly, it is not addictive and you can use it as you need it. The bad thing about depression, is it gets worse over time. I had already started experiencing heavy bouts of melancholia by age 10, due to un-diagnosed AS and developed alcohol and cannabis dependence in my 20's. Now I'm 33 and I still haven't recovered from cessation - over 5 years now. Might I suggest investing in an exercise bike, and reading some books and/or watching some videos on yoga. Diet is very important for people on the spectrum with co-morbid mental illness, I can't stress this enough sir.

I used to do nothing but stay inside and play games and watch films, completely indifferent to my health and well being. I managed to direct some of my focus, step after painfully small step, towards establishing an exercise regimen at a time when I was suffering with suicidal emotions. If it wasn't for this lifestyle change, coupled with some mindful meditation I would have either precipitated my own demise by my own hands, or succumbed to some other horrible disease from sleep deprivation. Best of luck to you.
