If you didn't test before removing the popcorn ceiling, test for asbestos. Most homes with popcorn ceilings have asbestos, which can be dangerous to remove without the proper tools, testing, and process. It's annoying but better be safe than sorry especially since you shared you're trying to get pregnant best to know before baby arrives.

thank you for the input! yes, the only popcorn ceiling was in the garage and thankfully there was not asbestos - we were worried about that before digging into as well.
