The problem can be many things with the most damaging being stray current. Having sacrificial anodes on the hull prevents the stray current from corroding the hull. The amount of anode protection can change with where the boat is moored, other boats leaking current, salinity of the water, and so on. That is the primary concern with a metal boat. We don't suspect stray current at this time as we have not noticed any hot spots of blisters on the hull. Soda blasting and repainting the hull runs about $15,000.00 to $20,000.00.

the problem is water, the question is how is it getting in...is it cheaper to just redo from base since boat is already out? that seems excessive for the sacrificial metal..is that normal?
