What Happened to My Corgi?

Hi, my name is Shirley from Arizona. I am 67 years old. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in August of 2022. It moved through my lymph nodes and showed up in my liver. So in January of this year, I ended up with Stage 4 cancer. I was in chemotherapy treatment for 5 months. At the end of June - I found out my rectal cancer is in remission!!! I'm currently in radiation to clear my lymph nodes and a spot of cancer on my liver. By the end of August, I'll be done!!! I have hope ~ Praise God I'm beating cancer!!!

My good news is we got a fluffy tricolor corgi four weeks ago. His name is Woodford, and he loves people. Everywhere he goes, he stops to greet people. Woodford puts smiles on almost everyone's faces. Thanks for inspiring me to get a corgi.

My good news is that my corgi, Bertie recently underwent successful surgery for a polyp in his colon that was making him bleed. It was biopsied and found to be noncancerous and it hasn't come back. About a year ago he had a dramatic and rare autoimmune reaction to some sort of insect bite. I have the best vet ever and she researched and called the experts and successfully diagnosed and treated it. He is scarred but healthy now thanks to her. I know very well what you are going through. It has been an emotional roller coaster for me too fearing that he had colon cancer. So much waiting and worrying. I have been through this too many times at my age (71) with dearly loved dogs not to know that the reality is that one day you will lose them. You can only hold on and enjoy them bravely while you can and when that day comes, honor them by letting them go as softly as you can.

My elderly dog (14 years!!) was able to get out and walk with me today! Its cloudy where I normally live so there was sunshine and I wanted her to enjoy it. And while she was pretty slow, she still kept trying. So I like to think that’s good news :) sending you and Gatsby a lot of love! Ryan, I have been watching your channel since its infancy. I remember when you got gatsby. My dog (porter) is the same age. He is my best friend and I cry about the day I will have to let him go. As a community I can speak for all of your viewers, the love you have for Gatsby is incredible. We have seen the immense bond you and Gatsby have formed. He is an amazing companion and your soul dog. I understand as I feel the same way about my canine. They come into our lives with the pure purpose of loyalty, companionship and boundless love. Gatsby knows how much you care about him and he cherishes each and every moment you spend together. Someone once said that dogs have already figured life out. Simplicity, no judgement, they look forward to food, walkies, and snuggles. Simple. It is the reason they live such short lives there is no need to soul search as they do one thing for us humans. You have inspired us to get our own tri-color corgi and he is 7 this year. His name is Dunkin throughout the whole year of 2023 so far, we have been dealing with a mass/tumor growth that emerged between his paw/toes. After months of tests and uncertainty, we were finally able to get it removed, but had to get his two middle toes amputated...due to the size of the tumor. Now, it has been a month since his surgery and he is doing all better! Sending love to you and Gatsby to keep it one day at a time and to cherish those present moments

After a year without a dachshund for the 1st time in almost 30 years my grandson gave me a dachshund puppy! She’s 12 weeks old now and she’s a holy terror! Working on housebreaking her right now. Hmm, some good news that’s been going on with me? I actually went to my very first concert in Toronto for a K-pop group called TWICE! It was an amazing experience and would love to go to another one in the future! I remember Edward! So great to see Ryen meeting up with his college friends again and having a great time! My gosh, all the foods looked so good! The edit at Stanford with Ryen and the statue was hilarious! Ryen playing mini golf brought be back to the one vlog he did years ago where he went golfing with some of his friends (edit: I just went back to that vlog and realized it was the same golf course haha! No wonder it was so nostalgic and familiar!). Another thing I want to mention is Happy 11 years on KZbin Ryen! Cheers to you and many more years to come! One more thing I wanted to say was that in the last vlog your gym tip about how working out, you are guaranteed results, that absolute changed the way I think about the gym and working out and it’s amazing! I showed some of my friends as well and they never thought about it that way and were mind blown like me! Thank you for sharing that with us Ryen! Hi Ryan, I’m Connor and I’ve been inspired by you ever since you had gotten Gatsby. My Dog Duchess, as a puppy, had survived a rare condition that almost no dog could’ve survived. I don’t know the condition cause she’s a rescue, but she’s a blessing to me and to my family. Gatsby is a huge blessing! He has survived this so far and he’s been able to push through it to live. Ryan, I was told by my breeder, she has never seen a dog so in tune with their owner like my dog,Briggs. It reminds me so much of you and sweet Gatsby. Good news in my life, well I can honestly say this has been overall one of the best years of my life. It hasn’t been easy because I have to get rid of bad habits I acquired while struggling with it and at times it feels like everything is collapsing around me in every single aspect, but the best part of it is that, for the very first time in my life I am happy to be alive and excited for what’s to come in the future. Praying so much for you and Gatsby. I lost my childhood dog over 10 years ago and our 17 year old chihuahua 3 weeks ago to cancer. We had no idea. I'm so happy yall were able to catch it in Gatsby. But for some good news! I fell in LOVE with corgis all because of you and Gatsby! 7 years ago in October, my little furbaby Mika, the black headed tri-color corgi, came into my life. We just had our yearly checkup at the vet and he told us that she was perfect and doing an AMAZING job taking care of her! And I have to give some of that credit to watching you and Gatsby over the years! Hi Ryen, Thanks for sharing your heart! I found you and sweet Gatsby a few years ago after checking out Corgis online. We had the joy of pup-sitting and hanging out with "Epic" a Cardigan Corgi from Germany and his family while they lived in the area for 4 years. We adopted this family 7 years ago when they arrived from overseas. After our beautiful rescue Chow/pitty mix, "Teddeigh" passed very unexpectedly in Nov, we were without a fuzzy friend for the first time in 30 years, he was our 4th large dog rescue. We are empty nesters so this was a very hard hit for us. Our framily with Epic the Corgi is moving to a place where they can't take him and asked if we would like to have him, we were thrilled, he is 11 now and doing great..I flew him back east 3 years ago while the fam drove across the country with 6 kids and 2 cats, and they flew him back to us in March. We understand all too well the heartbreak of losing a fuzzy friend from cancer but they all had amazing lives and brought us so much joy, I have many pictures to remind us of that. We are thrilled to have Epic for the rest of his life and will continue to take lots of pictures to add to our precious collection of wonderful memories. Thanks for the update and all the great videos, we are praying for you guys.

I was only like, 8 when I watched that “365 days of a puppy growing up” video. I would watch it daily, and everytime i was feeling sad that I didn’t have my own puppy. When I turned 12 I was given my very own puppy, I named him Teddy Bear. He’s the love of my life and I pray for Gatsby. I still return to that same video I played on repeat for the nostalgia. I can’t imagine what you’re going through when I get worried every time Teddy trips or yelps. Thank you for being an amazing vlogger. Well, here’s some news you might appreciate. Our daughter is 5. We originally thought we’d get a corgi when she was old enough (we had already been owned by 2 before she was born) so we introduced her to your vlogs. Ultimately we changed to a German Shepherd-the breed that I (and you too!) we’re raised with. BUT thanks to you and Gatsby, she is already learned how to be a good dog “parent”. She has emulated everything you do and paid attention to everything you’ve said. You showed her firsthand how to love and care for a dog, and because of that, she and our now 11month old German Shepherd are virtually inseparable. You and Gatsby have been positive influences that have shaped her outlook forever. So…I think that’s pretty good news. Continuing to pray for Gatsby and you. The canvas bag is just the right size for quick trips to the store or to see friends. I washed it by hand and it looks great. The kitchen towels are really big, absorbent and adorable. Ryen, I graduated from the UCD Vet School 35 years ago so I know Gatsby is getting state-of-the-art care. So you don’t need to worry about that [I know it’s so much easier said than done!]. As a cancer survivor and practicing vet, I think the best thing you can do for Gatsby is give him as much happiness and as normal a life for as long as possible. Inviting your friend to visit for week was a brilliant idea because it cheered you up and I’m sure Gatsby felt your shift in energy. Dogs are so intuitive and especially with the close relationship you have with Gatsby: when you’re down, he’s going to notice he feels it too. Scientific research shows that people and animals recover better from surgery when they’re in a happier frame of mind so your mental health is as important as Gatsby’s physical health. My corgi, Pua, is closely tied to me in the same way. So invite your friends to visit to keep your energy up and keep taking Gatsby to the park, beach and mountains. I love watching him run. Ryen! Olive and I send Gatsby and You our love. The anxiety that you've manage for the past year is something I could only imagine. When I lost Mr. Pickles, it was only a week for us before we lost him. Looking back, Pickles was the happiest of Corgis and I do feel that he knew his time was coming to an end. I truly believe that our special companions know something that we don't which is our love and friendship is eternal. It's never goodbye forever but just see you later. I've said it many times, I think you and Gatsby have been intertwined for many life times, Quantum Entanglement. That feeling you had the first time you saw him, you've actually experienced before in other life times. The reason why he gravitated to you is because he's done that before as well. The Universe is just too Grand and Majestic for us to only experienced once with our very short lives so it's a definite for me that this is the truth. For the time that you two still have, spend every moment that you can with each other. Oh yeah, and I'm going to buy everything I can for the summer merch sale because I know it will go a long way to help you two! ❤❤

Hello! We just became the owners of a Pembroke corgi this past April. My youngest daughter discovered your vlog and introduced me to it, and watching your videos has become the way I treat myself each day. Hey! I grew up watching some of your videos when I was much younger and always loved Gatsby. I enjoy corgis and checkup on your channel every couple of months. I am sorry to hear about the cancer and I hope Gatsby gets better. I lost my first dog to tumor cancer and I also lost my best friend since I was a child. People truly underestimate how important dogs our to our lives and the joy that comes from having them. I wish the best for Gatsby and you!
