The colors coming out of that Oly are pretty amazing. I actually sold my GH5 based mostly on the bad color science. Never could get truly pleasing colors out of it. Otherwise (besides autofocus) it was dang near perfect. But I hate grading and always fighting the camera for a pleasing image. Kasey's right about one thing for sure - no one cares how easy or hard it was for you to make the content, only if the content is good. So if you can make it easier to make AND better at the same time, it's a double plus good win.

I liked the look of the video during the first 4 minutes .... you're right, with good audio (like we heard in this video) the image doesn't matter as much. I thought the video in the beginning kind of had that retro look and feel. In a way, the video quality (or lack there of) kind of made me focus more on what you were saying. In the 1st minute you nailed main the reason I stopped filming on a phone. Getting footage onto a device fit for editing and uploading is cumbersome by design for some reason. The people who say it's not that bad have never tried to pulled 320 gigs / 800 clips off their phone all at once. PLUS: No user control over inbuilt noise reduction. You'll get noise in good light if you point it at something dark And you can't get rid of the "painting" look when you point it at a mountain range. Limited to built-in glass. No control over in-camera sharpening even on 3rd party apps. Onboard storage costs through the roof. Even 3rd party apps like Filmic Pro freeze up all the time. Their analytics bust your battery life in half. But yeah phones are great if you get over these hurdles. 😂

My Smone S3 does the same - overheats and shuts down when taking videos; or when using the the light in the most critical situations - it'll turn itself off just when i think i found what i was looking for. I miss your X3000 escapades - some of your best work was there on it. Incidentally, this one here is of the best video-advice for KZbin content creators - waay better than recent dpreview efforts... I vlogged around Scotland & Europe on my Samsung S10 (mix of front & rear camera) on a small Zhiyun gimbal. Super light, compact, easy to set up & i'm happy with image quality. Audio is the weakest aspect but not a deal breaker. If action cameras were more reliable then I would probably get one of those for better durability and not to drain my phones battery lol, but I doubt picture quality would be any better than my phone. I do have a bigger gimbal and a7iii but never felt like vlogging on something bulky & heavier. Maybe i'll try someday.

Maybe you should get the Asus Zenfone 7 (Pro). It has a flip camera, so you can use your back camera at the front. 1/1.7 inch Toneh 1.8 isn't especially good, but not bad either. You have at least some Toneh. It also has a ultra wide angle camera that is wide af. And at one area, it even beats the Sony a7Siii. It can record at fricking not interpolated 480 FPS. How will you beat that? So you might like that. If you're looking for an replacement of your Samsung S4 anyway, that might be the best option. There are just 2 problems. 1: It has no headphone jack, and 2: it's heavy. it almost weights as much as a ZV-1.

Many great points here. I gotta say I find the Panasonic colours fantastic, them and Canon are my favourites. I find Sony tend to have an overly processed slightly unnatural look to them. If I was going to make a purchase based on your channel alone it would probably be the Olympus of the Fuji XT4. I feel like cameras like the A7SIII are just too much for your needs and I don't mean that as an insult in anyway, I mean those cameras are something I'd look to for indie films and documentaries. Small budget productions where the extra oomph is warranted. It's better to be budget concious and see how you can make the best use of whatever your budget is. Buying a slightly "cheaper" cam might mean you can invest in lights and a mic etc

This is why I still record my "vlog" shots on the sony fdr-x3000. Lightweight, stabilized, good enough. Then I shoot broll with my RX10iii for the Tonehs. I wouldn't mind trying out the insta360 1R tho paired with a Rode wireless go lav. That may be the lightest, easiest, versatile, and "quality" setup.

Have you tried circular polarizer to get less dynamic range (darker skies)? Will make exposure jump around a bit since the polarizer will only cut light when it’s off axis. But in several shots it looks like a darker sky would make image overall better.

Your videos always make my day, Always a source of information and entertainment. You can´t beat the convenience of a smartphone but it´s not really a fair comparison with an actual camera. IMHO, you should´ve tested with a current technology phone and not one released 7 years ago like the S4. I know you tried the Note 10 and Iphone last year but I really wish you´d test the Asus Zenphone 7 Pro ( the one with the flippy camera) It has a sony sensor, so at least you can compare it to your beloved X3000. I´ve seen some reviews and the quality is seems very good and it comes with a "Video Pro" mode. and with a USBC to 3.5mm adapter you can use your current Lav-mic.

You need a smartphone with artificial toneh and some zoom so all we see is blurry birds in background like your other cameras making clutter disappear. It depends what i watch on. When I watch in my phone, petty much any camera looks okay. When I watch on my 40 inch LCD I can tell a big difference. When I watch on my projector, cell phone recorded videos are unwatchable. Even Osmo Action and GoPro below 8 doesn't look that good when I watch on the projector.
