I don't celebrate Christmas because I'm Muslim, but I have decorated a Christmas tree before for work. You don't have to apply the fishing lines, you can also just use paperclips. They loop through the holes in the ornament and can easily clip onto the tree. You can hide the clip part with the trees pine needles or you can get color paperclips too that are meant to be seen :)
