The fire wasn't supposed to flare that high when Tim added the fluid so their reaction was instinctual and perfectly funny.

The three at the end with the horses are the 'country' boys. Tim Foust (bass holding a chicken) is from southeast Texas; Adam Chance (with sunglasses in the middle) is from Alabama; Austin Brown (red shirt) is from south Georgia. The 2 missing - Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and Rob Lundquist (beard & glasses) are both from Minnesota.

Yes, beer acts as a tenderizer and flavors the meat if you marinade it preferably overnight. Try it sometime. I also love silliness. To be more serious for a moment vocal harmony requires respect for the other singers. Of course I like when skilled musicians show off their chops but I prefer that it is done with a spirit of collaboration. Home Free are well respected for their individual talents but as with the best of bands or choirs they honor the talents of those accompanying them. I believe the combination of laughing at themselves and mutual recognition of talent makes them more broadly liked. Not a bad life lesson IMO.

So the beer is a two fold thing. You can get a hint of the beer taste to your food specially if added to a marinade. The main reason specially when working with charcoal is to cool down what your cooking or the coals directly underneath it. Great for "flare ups" on gas grills also.

Heya Greg. Yes, adding alcoholic drinks to your recipes can make some things taste absolutely amazing. Beer with bratwurst. A dark, creamy stout with a meaty chili. Ever try making a rum & Coke cake? Do it. Here is one of my favorites. Make a hot mustard with Jack Daniels to give it a helluva tang. Just trust me on this one & look up recipes on making Jack Daniels hot mustard or honey mustard. Glaze or marinade chicken or pork in that and throw them on the barbecue. I've also done a raspberry chipotle glaze for chicken using a bit of Jameson (Irish whisky) to bring out the accents of the sweet berry & spicy pop from the jalapenos. Whoever said white folks cook bland food obviously never went to a hillbilly family reunion. And yes, chopping wood is an underrated pleasure in life. You get time to just think while your body is going through the motions. Who needs a gym membership when you've got land & timber to play with?
